Maybe those last two bench spots the Ashcrofts will take. As been said before, significant implications for QLD if that happens.

I reckon one of those spots goes to Harley Reid. That's one way to maximise local media/public attention. As for the 23rd player (if there is one), that could well be Will Ashcroft... but obviously I hope that's not the case.

Hardwick seems like a Mitchell selection. Not at the calibre of the other guys. I doubt he gets picked without Mitchell on the coaching panel.

Though he could play a defensive role on an opposition small. Most the vic team are very attacking unsurprisingly.

I dont think Ashcroft is being saved for QLD. No guarantee they ever even play. I just reckon Vic has so many midfield options hes missed out. There are so many arguable combinations you could make there.

Hardwick has been making smaller forwards his bitch for the better part of 7 years now. One of the most underrated players going around.

Has been stiff not to receive, at a minimum, an All Australian squad nomination.

The media suddenly appeared to become aware of his ability late this season, just in time for a standout blanketing of Toby Greene in an Elimination final.

His selection feels like reward for years of being overlooked.

Thrilled for him, even if this is just a one-off kick and giggle game.
