So with the 2024 draft, which player do you think in hindsight will be the biggest bargain in the redo draft threads? Who's going to jump up the biggest amount of spots from where they were taken?

Which players will the punters abuse their club for not picking up when they had a pick before he was taken?

For me, it's Bo Allen. I think he was such a slider in that draft, and I think he could well be that hybrid midfield and forward that every club wants.

What say ye?

I think Hofmann could shift up a few slots. He dropped to a nothing pick on being an academy player but he could actually be a player. Wouldn't have to be a superstar to jump 20 spots from the back of the draft

Luke Urquhart pick 57 has been very impressive over the pre season at north.

Was all the talk pre Xmas culminating in his best game in the offical intra club on the weekend playing against our firsts.

Thursfield said his kicking had improved since getting to the club and he got about 20 touches and didn’t turn the footy over once in match sim. Won plenty of clearances, took a courageous mark and kicked a goal.

I think it will be the Whitlock boys personally.

Matt looks extremely good so far and he has no right to be with that body size. His athleticism and ground ball ability is exceptional.

Will play a decent amount of AFL footy this year imo.

Reading similar reports of Jack at Port.

North supposedly had Matt at #11 on their board, hence the trade, I think both will end up top 10 players from this draft.

I liked the look of Tom Gross leading up to the draft, he stayed on the board until 46 in the end which surprised me.

Just liked the cut of his jib. Reminded me of another of my old favs Rory Sloane. No idea how he’s tracking at West Coast but he could slide into the midfield once Yeo / Kelly / Sheed are pushed out in the next few years.

Had a very good intra club game against our A mids a week or two back. Now has some calf soreness but was looking at an early debut otherwise.

Sloane is the comparison many have given on our board too. He might not be a top 5 player from the draft but a serviceable player would be an excellent result from mid 40’s.

Cheer Big Lebowski
That is great to hear, i had a little bit to do with him last year
It's so good that his kicking has improved he has totally had to change his kicking action
with his hip reconstruction.
And last year was not enough time to embed it, and his kicking was hit and miss
Very happy to hear it has improved, he has everything else you want in a big bodied mid
Great endurance good speed and hard at it and good at clearances

Dominated his first match sim for the 'B' side, to the point watchers said he was BoG.

A bit quieter in the next but still impressive.

Currently has a slight calf strain, so was unavailable for the Richmond game and intraclub on the weekend.

Back running now though, so hopefully we'll see him in action against North.

Murphy Reid with a bullet after his intra-club.
Was everywhere & his footy IQ & skills are off the charts. How did he slide?
Questions over size/pace and not wanting to leave Melbourne, I'd imagine.

Having said that, many on our board had him as their first choice at our pick and it's easy to see why.

Very smooth mover with great skills and accumulates very well.

Should definitely move up the draft rating in years to come, one would think.

Alger - at pick #58 was a bargain and he will be the player to make many clubs regret not taking him.
huge potential to move up in coming years

Does beg the question why Richmond didn’t use one of their gazillion picks on him. I can sort of understand other Vic clubs who may have had different needs or other interstate teams if there were questions over him not wanting to leave Vic but I’ll be very surprised if all the players Richmond took end up better.

Yeah, they took 2 big mids in Lalor & Smillie. Probably would've made sense to balance it out with Reid but I guess they wanted to take the gamble on Hotton instead.

Wonder if it'd have been different if they didn't have so many picks?
