Re: Prelim Final - Collingwood vs Hawthorn - Post Match Discussion

Well personally I don't think you are calling a spade a spade but I'll leave it at that. Unless Jolly can recover quickly he'll be out of the side, and thankfully it hasn't cost us a spot in the GF.

There's no agendas here whatsoever, I'm just a realist.

My ideal scenario would be Jolly recovering and Brown being dropped, will it happen? Probably not.
The reason it didn't cost us a spot in GF is Hale/Bailey duo are nowhere near of Ottens/West.

Awesome, Jolly apparently was one of our best in the worst half we've played all year. He managed to achieve that fit by being even worse than he's been for the last 6 months.

Fanbois will be fanbois I guess.

"Answered the critics after some sub-par performances of late with a strong showing. Was terrific in the first half with some strong ruck play and a goal going forward. Faded a bit in the second half and was taken off late with what looked like a groin injury."

Haters gonna hate. You got the sneaking suspicion Mick's going to agree with you again and drop him?

Oh wait, you never said you wanted Jolly out, did you? :)

Nah, I gotta sneaky suspicion you have no idea. More than a suspicion actually.
Go and ask people on the main board what they think of Jolly's recent form.

Its not often our great white hope Jolly can match it with monsters of ruck like Bailey lol.

You know what? I actually think him getting injured had something to do with us lifting our game in the last quarter and getting over the line.

And yes I wanted him dropped but only if Leroy wasn't, at the end of the day neither of them produced what Cam would have.

I'm just happy that we're in another grand final after looking way out of it at 3 quarter time.

Our last month has been way below par, and tonight was no different. Lots of players had poor games, but credit to Hawthorn who nullified our game plan and didn't let us run the wings as we like to do. What sh!t me was that because Malthouse has the boys drilled down the boundary, they don't bother looking inboard and miss opportunities with team mates standing alone. The occasions we did go inboard we looked very dangerous and set up some goals.

I don't know if anyone else saw it, but in the last quarter when we were 4 points down, Shoenmakers got caught holding the ball, Blair laid the tackle but Leon got the free kick. I'm surprised he was allowed to take the free kick.

Cloke awesome game, with special mention to Dawes, Ball, and Swan's second half.

How do we win next week? Hope like hell WCE win the other prelim today.

Malthouse needs a Plan B next week. I'm not confident atm, but lets see how Geelong go today. WC won't die wondering and I can't see Geelong getting through injury free.

I'm confident. Woke up this morning, thought about it, realised I believed we can win this.

I'd expect that last quarter will be how we play most of the game next week.

Still cant believe we won that game.
The most stupid thing i saw all night was Wellinghams' decision to take his free kick when he clearly could kick it, I think it resulted in Hawthorn kicking a goal.

Taken from the recovery session after last night's game. I'm not sure why, I just like that photo.

Anyway, I was sitting next to my (obviously shattered) Hawks supporting mate last night, and that match was definitely a great escape for us. I'm not sure if Hawthorn's pressure was fantastic or our disposal was worse than usual, or a combination of the two. I'm praying everyone under an injury cloud comes good and a West Coast win, or a Geelong squad coming out battered and bruised.

Pies were very rusty in the first quarter...
I also notice hardly anyone running close to 80% their pace...

Come 4th quarter, urgency kicked in, Pies playing with desperation... Hawks were tired also could be why Pies looked "quicker" lol.

But Cats, if they get through, will be up by 6 goals after first quarter if the Pies put below "80%" effort.

Voice is recovering now.

Sat next to the cheersquad, wow what a game of football. I've never experienced anything so tense, live (although the 2007 Prelim against Geelong comes close).

Should Geelong win today, they should go in favourites next week.

It was a great comeback, but if we play anything similar to those first 3 quarters, Geelong will absolutely annihilate us.

Make no mistake, we have limped into the Grand Final.

Players injured, underdone, and form missing.

But we can take comfort in that such a poor performance still got us over the line against an excellent team like Hawthorn, who threw everything at us.

My concern is that our forward movement is being strangled by effective zoning. The Cats have done it twice against us, the Hawks last night.

Hawks seem to get out of our forward press a bit too easy. Tackles weren't sticking.

But the spirit of our team has to be lauded.

Hopefully it'll give a kick up the bum of a few players (although we said that after the WCE game).

Yeah that was frustrating. Surely the moron umpire who looked at Wellers could see that he could barely stand, and couldn't take the kick.

Okay Tim :thumbsu:

Took a boring trip to the G today to calm me down. I still can't believe we won. We never looked like it until Cloke's goal and then Buddy won it for them - enter Luke Ball again!

Shitting myself about the GF but can't wait!
