So many big name recruits at South Croydon that depth may become an issue as fringe players look elsewhere for opportunity.

In saying that its hard to see much change at the top of the ladder with possible challenges only coming from Blackburn or Norwood.

they are going to be at the maximum with points every week bar injuries. Jones is a great get full time . He is a gun .
Walker I think is 3 points bob as he has been aligned to Sth for a few years now
Lets get some tips going

Come on Richie your footy department needs to get active.
Know someone that will give us 20-1?

Great people are willing have a go but perhaps do some genuine research, especially if putting your name to it.

I do agree it is going to even up but to me the top 2 are obvious, & I am seeking that 20-1.

Premier

Wow, what a tight division this is going to be. The relegation of East Ringwood and Knox and the inclusions of a host of quality players through all teams means a spot in the finals will be decided on winning what we call ‘8-point’ games.

It is hard to look past Vermont, the current premier. The Eagles have recruited strongly with a mixture of returning club champions (Mullet and Ross) and high-quality midfielders (Honeychurch/Burgess)
While they have lost some solid role players in Davidson/Collopy/Pretto, their inclusions cover these with added interest.

Balwyn has also recruited heavily with a focus on not only top end talent (Richards) but also exciting youth (Monkhorst). Add the return of injured duo in Manuel and Haley and Balwyn will definitely be back at the ‘pointy end’ in 2019. North Ringwood under the tutelage of veteran (he will hate that term) coach, Paris Harvie have recruited strongly with Apeness and McLarty along with Schilling heading their inclusions. The loss of Joyner through injury hurts but they look like a team to ‘watch’.

Blackburn has topped up with talls and few departures which will enable them to control the corridor better in 2019.

Rowville under John Brown again has also recruited strongly with Brolic/Ousley and Giobbi along with livewire forward Hehir. Robinson and Sikora are quality losses but have been adequately covered.

Doncaster has included Batsanis, a quality hard running midfielder as a key inclusion but probably their best recruits are new senior coach Stuart Kemperman and assistant coach Jason Heatley.

Both have premierships as coaches and players, a rare, but valuable commodity. Could it be the 1% that Doncaster needs to take the next step in this division?

Norwood under Marty Pask has looked at a cultural change as a way of improving all aspects of the club. Carroll/O’Sullivan and Johnson are key outs but there seems to be a quiet confidence about the Norseman. Noble Park has spent a year or so reinvigorating all aspects of their club under the guidance of master coach Mick Fogarty and as such, discount them at your peril!

South Croydon have been very quiet over the pre-season. A number of solid mid-range role players have left and the inclusions tend to be based on youth. Hard to read at this stage.

Montrose has lost Schilling and Goodman and have also looked to youth to build its list. In this extremely tough division, the Demons are going to need some luck to push up the ladder.

My ladder predictions:
Vermont
Balwyn
Rowville
Blackburn
Noble Park
North Ringwood
South Croydon
Doncaster
Norwood
Montrose
My main prediction is that there will only be eight points between teams sitting 4th to 9th at season’s end.

Is Batsanis going to play every game?
Thought the guy was a real estate agent and worked Saturdays?

I believe he copped a knee to the chest & wasn’t in a great way. The game was delayed for 30 minutes as an ambulance needed to come onto the ground.

Hopefully he is fine & recovering well.

A great game between Sth Croydon and Blackburn. With South getting away to a great start and then slowly being pegged back. Very close until late in the last quarter when Blackburn pulled away to win. Great start to the year for Blackburn and equally disappointing for Sth Croydon. The streaming of game has greatly improved this year and even up here in the bush coverage was terrific.

Saw the last quarter and the disallowed goal to Blackburn at about the 20 minute mark of the last quarter was cruical but eventually did not effect the game.I was at that end and looked a goal and goal umpire thought the same but over ruled by a field umpire who was in the centre of the ground.

Yes, that was a strange one. Looked to be goal to me and the goal umpire seemed surprised as well.

How can the field umpire overrule ?

The field umpire closest to the goal square was happy with the goal umpire's decision, the field umpire in the the centre circle over ruled it.My understanding of the EFL rules if the goal umpire refuses to change his original decision it stays but stand to be corrected.

It was a great game and huge crowd at cheong. Burners definitely deserved the win . What’s your thoughts on sth cliff??

They gave away a number of silly frees that ended in goals. In the first quarter they seemed to be outnumbering their opponents, but that dropped away in the last quarter, maybe they weren't as fit as Blackburn. If Blackburn are one of the paces setters, South aren't far behind though and maybe the only difference in the end was belief. Winning the first 2 games as opposed to losing the first 2 might have been the difference. Number 23 missed a lot of marks that he should have taken and his efforts in general were disappointing.

Rowville are one to watch, they easily defeated Sth Croydon last round. At the moment Noble Park have improved from last year but. Doncaster and Sth Croydon have fallen off the pace so far.
