I want 2 simple questions answered by you AFC supporters:

1, Will Adelaide make the Grand Final?
2, Will Adelaide win the Grand Final?

It was said against Essendon that there are a few people who believe it will be a WCE/Adelaide Grand Final. As I think about it, that just may happen.

Simple answer to your simple question is : 'Who knows?'

Realistically, I don't think we'll make the GF, although anything is possible. Even though they sit below us, Melbourne and Geelong are sides that would probably make it before us.

We have also been very lucky with injuries so far, so our depth has not been tested.

Half way through the season, and we still need to win 5 more games to even make the finals. Long way to go ...

That is a very long way away before we get there and I know there is a lot of Crows supporters taking it one week at a time and not getting a head of ourselves.

Our first half of the season has been fantastic.

The next 2 weeks will big test to see where we are as a club and how genuine of a contender we are for at least a Top 4 finish.

To be where we are now is a great effort but I don't think we can go that far. I would be absolutely delighted if we did but considering I would've been happy to have seen us playing any September action at the start of the year I am satisfied with how we are going.
One thing we shouldn't start doing is expecting this group to be able to go that far. I know they potentially could if we hit some good form around finals time but that's a long way off.
If they keep doing what they're doing, who knows? I'm not holding my breath, but I just want to see them put in their best every week.

No. We have a tough draw and we are not yet ready.

Meh. I think we can get 6 more wins from the last 11 games, maybe more.

I think that might see us make 4th or 5th spot.

Depending on injury and timing (eg. producing form similar to what we saw against Port, Saints and Essendon at finals time) that finish could see the Crows make a GF.

Would have to be lucky, things would have to go just right - but it is not impossible IMO.

The answer to this thread question is IMO not a straight-out "No".

I think no on both counts at this stage, I think most of us were preparing for a very average season; and probably intended to spend most of the season looking at the positives that would be starting to rise around this team in player improvements and the teams structural changes; however, we've performed better than most people would have expected, now we can enjoy it in a less critical view; but still looking to the future.

How very true.

But i have always believed if the footy gods are smiling in our direction & we are there when it counts anything is possible.

Still let's take it "one game at a time" people. :)

We aren't even assured of being in he 8 yet. It's likely that we need another 5 wins to be assured of a spot in the 8, and with our run home, and the way results have gone this season, that is nowhere near over the line.

Port this week highlighted how even this competition is - written off by just about everybody after the WCE game, an impressive winner and one game out of the 8 a week later.

Any talk of grand finals and premierships is more premature than a horny 15 year old boy scoring for the first time with Anna Kournikova.

Gee Hasus...your starting to draw a long bow by predicting the Crows to make the GF. We need to qualify for finals first. However, whilst it is too early to start thinking about September at all (form, injuries, opposition), there is no reason that if they make top 4 at end of minor round, they can't give it a shake. West Coast have looked the stand out this year, but I think we are now on a level pegging with about 4 or 5 sides. If luck smiles on us, do not not count us out!!

Agree with this, but we have to start winning against the higher placed teams. Geelong this week would be a very good start, if we win that, then we should start to take ourselves a little more seriously. I'm convinced that Craigy has us headed in the right direction (*eats humble pie again*), but I'm still not convinced that we can make it last all year long.

My diet consists of nothing but as I contemplate an email of apology to Triggy.

No. Our supporters get way too carried away in my opinion....

Maybe in three years but not now. We will end up top 6 no doubt though, with all the home games to come
Some Adelaide football club supporters are to optimistic and some are very pessimistic. With a bit of luck we can make the grand final (who would have said in 1997 that we would have made the grand final, and even win it at the end of round 11). The Grand Final is still a long way to go and anything can still happen. For the record I will say no will not make it nor win it, but it is not out of the question that we could make it.

You can not put a time frame on a thing like winning a grand final or even making one.

This season reminds me a bit of 97 but we dont want to go there do we..........yes we dooooooo.

But I doubt it. We're not good enough, but if we get there, anything can happen.

Yes

And we will win it and Scotty Thompson will kick the winning goal after the siren after Stinger gave him the free kick.

:D

At round 11 in 1997 who seriously gave the crows any chance at winning the premiership? I was simply hoping to make the finals and build from there; just like now, lets cross one bridge at a time.

(BTW 5 more wins needed before any finals can be considered.

Same as this year, happy to make the eight but in wonderland if we crack the top four. :)

Call it bravado, call it blind faith, call it stupidity... but I boasted to my homeroom classmates that we'd "at least play off in the Grand Final" after we obliterated the Bullies in Round 5.
