Class?

Only Walker and Dangerfield have elite abilities. Thompson is a flakey grunt, Sloane tries hard and Jacobs is quite tall.

If anything you're severely overmatched.

Yep, don't know where this "class" business comes from. Wingard has class. Hartlett has class. Boak has class. I think outsiders still underrate the class of a guy like Broadbent. We actually have "class" all over the ground. They do have more recent big game experience.

People complain about it but I used it when I was in New Zealand for the start of the first round and I thought it was great.
Did it stream the game live well?
Might have to pick up a wireless tesltra dongle keep it in my pocket for extra grunt...sit at the very back

Who are your class players? I am not having a go by anymeans. from an outsider your class is Hartlett, Schulz & Ebert. Yes Wingard & Wines are top players but wont be class for a few years to come. Boak is just ya down & dirty mid like thommo.
I might be missign a few players but your top class players still have abit to go, dnt get me wrong they are top players but a year or 2 away from class. & no we dnt have alot of class either so no need to have a crack about that 1, even i kno patty needs to learn a few things like how there is a time to kick the ball & how to break a tag. its goin to be a close 1, adelaide will just get up but only because our experience is only just ahead. Port will start getting a few up on the crows in the near future thou, trust me

If Cornes shuts out Dangerfield and we can keep Walker to only a couple of goals, Port will win this by 5 goals.

I think our run and forward line is what will get us the win.

The stream was great and there was no interruptions. You would want to be on a good network though. Also it's un-metered if you're with Telstra.

I wish our first test of playing a side who made the finals last year wasn't the Crows, which is going to be a big game regardless. Would have loved them in Rd 5 and a crack at Collingwood, Hawks or Swans now

Ok so Wingard, hartlett and Boak are class but Thompson, Jacobs, Sloane, Talia etc. aren't?
Might be time to remove the bias... :thumbsu:

nothing better than a showdown right now, our biggest game as well as collingwood, but this fits perfectly and its our home game too-another win is on the cards

I was with you until there ...

Talia is a good defender, but he barely touches the ball and when he does he kicks like a drunk Troy Chaplin. He does not have 'class'.

You're making the mistake of equating class with ability. Jack Watts has more class than Scott Thompson. Doesn't make him a better player.

Talia is not an accumulator he's a lock down defender . And a fantastic one at that (particularly for his age). He has class alright. Throw Brodie Smith in there as well.

See above.

If you don't know what 'class' actually means in the football context, don't come onto another board and embarrass yourself by trying to talk about it. You won't be protected here.

Hang on, you're the guy who came on here saying you have it all over us for class. I'm just saying I don't think that you do.

I am by no means confident at all haha. U guys are playing some top footy, anthing can happen in a showdown. Should be a top match which ever way it goes. My main worry is hartlett in the Mids & Westoff if he plays like ge did last week.

That!

Talia is far from class. He's a solid defender and he'll only ever shape up to be successor to Rutten. He will be good for one on ones but he will never be dictating games and providing you with run from backline etc..

I actually am happy...what better challenge to put our young lads to the test....this is what our team needs after 2 easy teams...win or lose this game will be invalueable to our team development

Dear god, you've skipped a few (well maybe many) spelling and grammar classes along the way. I think my head hurts after reading that.

What? Oh the gist of your argument. I think Port has more class, with the likes of Wingard and Wines coming through, but they lack experience. The Crows have experience, plus more than one pre-season under a decent fitness regime. That is where you have the edge and should win. Your last almost sentence is right, in that as our classier players get more games into them and have another pre-season under Burgess I expect the respective positions of the two SA clubs to flip as to who is the better placed in 2014 or 2015 and stay that way for at least 2 - 4 years after that.

The Crows' ladder position came from hard work and intensity, not necessarily from class. Dangerfield, Walker, Vince, Mackay and maybe Jacobs (if you consider excellent ruckwork to be 'classy', which I do) are the only really classy players they have. Guys like Thompson, Sloane, VB and Wright don't have silky skills but they're all running machines, and they all stepped up their defensive game last year.

If we can match the Crows for workrate and intensity, we have the talent to win this. The Crows will need to step up their game and get their workrate and intensity back up to 2012 levels to win this game, because they've been nowhere near it in the last two weeks (and hopefully for us, the Showdown won't be the catalyst for the return of that workrate and intensity). Conversely, we need to avoid our workrate and intensity slipping back down to 2012 levels. If both of those things happen, I can see us causing the upset.

IMO Adelaide's biggest advantage over Port in recent years has been size and fitness. Since Burgess has returned, I have not seen one iota of evidence to suggest that Port won't be able to, at the very least, match Adelaide for size and fitness this weekend. Bring it on.

Class on recent form
Westhoff, Kane Cornes, Ebert, Boak, Pittard, Wingard, Neade Broadbent Hartlett
Adelaide
Don't watch em so at a guess Thomson, Sloane, Danger, Jacobs, Johncock

Isn't it good to have fun biased debate :)

I would say I'm still erring on the side of an Adelaide win, but the I think if Port were to win, it would be a result of our added leg speed that I don't think you guys can match. I would say that at the moment your two biggest X-factors, Walker and Dangerfield, pose more danger than any of our players (Hartlett could almost be up there) but that our increased speed and endurance as a team could be our X-factor. There's been a bit more of a trend developing of goals kicked from quick rebounds, with more teams looking to add run-and-carry to maximise the effect of a quick turnover and I would say we have more of this on every line than the Crows do.

Def: Stevenson, Pittard, O'Shea v Jaensch and Otten
Mids: Ebert, Boak, Broady, Hartlett v Danger, Sloane, Mackay, Vince
Fwd: Wingard, Neade, Monfries, Mitchell v Douglas, Wright

In terms of the bookends, I'd say Walker and Talia just outmatch Schulz and Carlile, and obviously in the ruck the Crows have clear dominance with Jacobs v Lobbe/Redden/Renouf. But it will be interesting to see what you guys do with Westy. Normally a showdown specialist, and given his current form he could be the difference.

Have a wedding right when this game is on....

But i have worked it out if i sneak out and in i can time it so half time is when the ceromony happens and should be finished by reception....

Question i have is anyone used the afl live app to watch live games...14.99 a month....i am buying it specifically for this operation i am planning...i need feedback on it

I have been using it and its very good. I think you can pay just for the year at $89, it was $50 last year. It is the foxtel telecast and I use an adaptor to run it to my TV, which is quite good.
