Weekend Wrap and "Liked, Learned, Hated" right here -- How did tipping go?
Do you want my attention?
If you say so.Nope.
Should be a huge chance this year.I'm interested to get people thoughts and opinions on Matt Priddis 2014 Brownlow win 12 months on. Priddis taking home Charlie produced a large amount of discussion, some positive on the win and some not so.
His 2015 season has been statically better. Has anyone's opinion changed?

Changed for sure . God hes ten times the player of Woewodin for starters.Yeah very true. However a number of posters were saying worst Brownlow winner of all time.. etc. Now with the added awareness I wonder if that has changed.
Isn't the Brownlow meant to go to the best player in the comp?
Surely that means it shouldn't be 'a surprise'.
We know there is a bias toward midfielders. Further evidence that the Brownlow is massively overrated as an award.Yes that's why Wayne Carey has 5 of them.
The Brownlow is meant to go to the best player in the league in a given season. Whether it actually does that is open to debate. It has nothing to do with best player. Priddis was the highest vote receiver in games that the Eagles played in. His tally just happened to be higher than every other player in the league. That's why he won the Brownlow. It's not a sham, it's the system.

Yes, that's the system set up to determine who wins the award. But the award is still meant to go to the competition's best and fairest player. That's what it says on the tin. That's the point of the award. The Brownlow goes to highest vote getter. Last season it was Priddis and thoroughly deserved.

But you can argue that up is down if you like.
He wasn't the competition's best player.
That makes sense if you are willing to ignore the point of the award. It goes to fairest and best player by vote count. Priddis was that player last year.
It reveals something about you that you think even mild criticism of a player points to some kind of romantic dysfunction.Pretty sure Matt Priddis stole Sweet Jesus' girlfriend at some point in their childhood.

It certainly invites people to speculate about why that would be uppermost in your mind when it comes to possible motives.

All those guys would be worthy winners.
If a player is BOG 10 times in one season, he's had a very good year.
I still wouldn't have him near my top 5 players in the comp
Yep. Even if every player on the ground has a bad game someone still gets 3 votes. To get an actual best player you would need to grade every ones performance out of 10 then add it up at the end of the year. Not necessarily. I've just posted in one of the other threads that for all Fyfe's dominance in the first half of the season, he can still only poll a maximum of 3 per game. There may have been other players not as obviously dominant that have polled enough in the same period to keep somewhere near him who then have a strong back half to the season and mow him down.
You generally need to be consistently good for the whole of the season.
Huh? what season were you watching ?Its kind of like how Sammy Mitchell is a red-hot goer in the eyes of many after his finals campaign, despite a pretty poor couple of months in the middle of the season.
Scott West was and still is, one of the most over-rated players of all time.He is a Scott West that wins brownlows.
Will poll high again this year, even a chance to go back-to-back.
Good luck to him.
