Hi All,

Would be grateful if someone could please confirm what exactly constitutes a team obtaining a priority pick in the draft?

Cheers.

I hope this will answer everybody's questions about the order of draft picks.

Currently, the situation is like this.

North Melbourne - 4.5 wins (No priority)
West Coast - 4 wins (Lose their 1st round priority pick if they win 1 more or draw 1)
Richmond - 3.5 wins (Lose our 2nd round priority pick if we win 1. If we draw once, we still get the priority, but may lose pick #1 depending on other results)
Melbourne - 3 wins (Lose their 1st round priority pick if they win 2 more, or win 1 and draw 1)
Fremantle - 3 wins (Lose their 2nd round priority pick if they win 2 more, or win 1 and draw 1)

Winnable games for each of the bottom 4 clubs:

West Coast - Fremantle, North Melbourne, Richmond(All at Subiaco)
Richmond - Melbourne, Sydney, West Coast (MCG, MCG, Subiaco)
Melbourne - Sydney, Richmond, North Melbourne, Fremantle (Manuka, MCG, Etihad, MCG)
Fremantle - West Coast, Port Adelaide, Melbourne (Subiaco, Subiaco, MCG)

Once again, I hope this helped. :D

Stolen from Richmond board.

If we qualify for a priority pick this year and win less than 5 next year, do we still get a first round priority pick or do they forget about priority pick for the years when the new teams are entering the competition? As much as I hate the whole idea of PP's and tanking, I'd be very annoyed if that the year we finally qualify for a first round PP and when one of the most promising young KPP's from WA in Jack Darling is available, the AFL decides to stop giving out priority picks...

Also, if we do get a first round PP, would we get pick 1 or would we get pick 4 after the GC has had their first 3 picks?

that's a point i raised with some mates the other night and noone knew so i was going to post that on the main AFL board, hopefully we get an answer here so there is no need.

Im under the impression the priority pick will cease to exist next year. Don't have any hard proof of that.

There will be some compensatory picks given to clubs who have players poached.
