Am considering buying this and would like to know if anyone has it or rates it.

I have bever played a PES before but I hear they smash fifa.

Keeping in mind I have a ps3, is this worth it?

Has anyone got the controls for the PC version? I downloaded it and I have no idea what they are. btw, the graphics are shit. Probably because it is an Xbox version. (Dunno why)

The PC graphics are meant to be the best of any console if you have a very good computer. They are next gen. It's only the PS2 that has the old graphics.

If you have Vista, I wouldn't worry about it.

PES2007 worked fine on my Vista laptop, PES2008, much slower.

Lack of new quality nVidia Drivers are a massive problem for those who have Vista and do PC Gaming.

I have it on PS3 and i think it's a ****ing great game. I have no idea why some people hate it. I have thrashed the guts out of it since the day it came out and will continue to plough it until the next PES arrives.

Whenever I try playing online, it says it can't detect some UDP port. Can't I play it through wireless connection or do I have to connect the modem directly (would be a hassle)?

Maybe graphics card?

Would only work on 'low resolution' on my old graphics card but got a new one and the graphics look awesome.

unlike FIFA pro evo plays like real soccer... so if you're a die hard soccer fan, pro evo would be the game for you... graphically it has never been up with FIFA, but gameplay has always been much more realistic...

haven't played the newer versions, i'm just commenting based on the older versions...

3 mates came over the other day and we played it on computer. Worked pretty well though as i've got a 22 inch LCD widescreen and one of those things that you plug PS2 controllers in for computer. Downloaded a patch to fix names, kits, stadiums, faces etc.

Absolutely awesome :)

I disagree. FIFA 08s gameplay is IMO better than all previous football games that ive played.

Well it doesn't show the crowd. I'll give it a try. Where can you put it on 'low resolution'?

If there's no crowd then it is already set on low res and your graphics card isn't powerful enough.

Still playable but a better graphics card would obviously improve the graphics alot and enhance the gaming experience (at least a $150 one).

Oh and playing pro evo with a keyboard sucks; get a controller. :thumbsu:

It seems that there are two groups, fifa fans and and pes fans.

I have never played a pes game but will get 08. I have been with fifa since 04.

there is a 50/50 split of people who sya pes08 is absolutely fantastic and those who say it is complete and utter crap. same with fifa 08

i had but returned it for another game i love my soccer and im fussy when it comes to games its not bad ill give it a 7/10 but i still think pro5 was better.

I'm installing it as we speak. I have a logitech gamepad and very good computer and graphics card so I should be able to play it to its full potential. Its main critisism has been that it lacks the features that FIFA has but that doesn't really concern me. What good is Be A Pro mode if the general gameplay isn't amazing? I played FIFA 08 on my friend's 360 and, while it's an improvements on previous efforts, it still doesn't feel as fluid as PES. I'm also very glad that PES 08 has been given next gen birth on PC, unlike the EA series.

I don't really like the Master League which has been critisised for being old and dated but that doesn't bother me either. I only play PES for online, exhibition games and some random tornaments and leagues. If I want in depth management I play Football Manager which takes PES as well as FIFA to town in that area.

just a question folks,

I think I saw someone mention (maybe on here?) that this new had some feature where you had to do things like score 2 headers in a half against a certain team and other such challenges. (like Shane Warne Cricket 99)

Is this actually on the game?

Yes, it's only on the PS2 version though. It's basically called the "World Tour" and you have 100 scenarios to get through, each with a different challenge.

Some examples include:
- Winning with all your players having no stamina or injuries
- Coming back from a goal down at half time to beat Brazil
- Scoring with 5 minutes to go
- Scoring with a starting player and a sub
- Scoring from 25m out
- Dribbling the ball into the net (this was a pain in the backside)

Currently I'm up to about Challenge 37, where I have to completely dominate Man U (win by at least 3 goals, keep a clean sheet and concede 3 fouls or less).

Some are more challenging than others, but it's good because they force you to adapt your gameplay each scenario.
