You've obviously got an issue with people in jobs that hold any sort of authority. You post the same type of anti-authoritarian bullshit in other threads.
As far as a slap for retaliation being grabbed, any ******* that retaliates with that type of behaviour deserves not only to be body slammed but put in a choke hold, given a Lou Thesz press and finished off with a Stone Cold stunner for being an antisocial little shit

She was grabbed from behind by an unknown assailant at Flinders St station - a slap was the least she should have done he's lucky he didn't cop a kick to the nads. If this happened to my daughter I'd be down there demanding to speak to the jackboot responsible so he could answer to someone his own age and size. Utter scumbag, as are his mates that were blocking her friends from going to see if she was OK while the **** sat on top of her after spear tackling her.

The officer did nothing wrong. Under the circumstance and from what my understanding is, together with what I have seen on public transport in similar scenarios, I don't see an alternate. He tried talking to the girls and she fled. What they are meant to let her get away because she is 15?

All that you are call the PSO a pig for doing his job? If he did anything wrong and I mean ANYTHING wrong an officially apology would have been sent out. This is always done to cover their behind legally. The fact that nothing happened should be proof enough. Tell me how would you have dealt with the situation had you of been the PSO officer?

"Just doing their jobs" has been a popular justification for violent actions of scumbags for generations.

You're a brown-nosing sycophant who is one of the priviliged few who benefit from the state monopoly of violence that is employed to look after capital and private property -

How's that for a generalisation?

What was more violent, Crash?

A) The $3 fare evasion and face slap

or

B) The crash spear tackle?

The answer is A) - Reason being something is only considered violent if it goes up the heirarchial ladder -

She didn't have a ticket, she slapped an officer. The PSO possibly went over the top but she copped the consequences of a couple of very poor decisions. Lack of respect for some authority led to the situation as it is now.
Not defending passengers actions. AO actions were far worse though - I can't see how that isn't an assault upon the lass (from silent vid perspective). Certainly not proportionate. AO is an adult and also held to higher standards.
Incredulous that she is charged yet officer is not is all.

Rubbish, she ran from him after it was identified she didn't have a valid card. She knew he was behind her.
I have a kid the same age, certainly doesn't look as rough as those kids and wouldn't ever dream of travelling without the right passes. Teach your kids a bit of respect and they won't have a problem.
If this situation was completely innocent and the girl had done nothing wrong, I'd expect her old man to be down there handing the PSO his own teeth in a jar. That's if her old man isn't in Barwon or downing his 20th pot for the morning at the Plough in Footscray

That's right, Crash

Everyone who has a different view to you must be an alcoholic, a hippy or a lower class schmuck working a shit job...
You're an angry little man with a battler complex aren't you?
You'll see the world differently when you become an adult

So your response would be to assault the PSO too?

You'll come across as a less of a w@nker when you stop trying to pigeon hole everyone neatly into stupid catagories

She's a kid. It's not like she was committing some violent crime that these wannabe cops would cower from like assaulting another passenger or mugging them. What she did was wrong but the response from an adult in a position of authority who should know better is so disproportionate to the supposed "crime" or rather infringement of not buying a $2-$3 train ticket that it is absolutely unthinkable that anyone could defend it.

Kids do stupid things sometimes and not always because they have been raised poorly but often due to peer pressure, feelings of invincibility and the lack of full brain development that leads to impulsive actions. That doesn't give scumbags like the person in question the right to spear tackle a young girl to the ground (a move banned in the AFL an possibly NRL as too dangerous I should add) and sit on top of them restricting their ability to breath just because they have lost some face in front of their colleagues and the public by being slapped by a young girl. You'd think they would have learnt after what happened at Crown but I guess the thuggish morons these jobs attract wouldn't be able to have any insight into that.

You put the point across a lot better than radiojake.
I don't condone the heavy handiness of the PSO, however the incident escalated because of the way it began. A smartarse kid, no Myki, slaps someone trying to do the job they are paid to do. Most kids would just accept the fine or whatever it was that was the minor punishment.
I copped a hiding from the cops when I was 18 for being D & D and a smartarse after being thrown in the lockup overnight to sober up. I didn't like it but learnt to lose the battle to win the war.

Can a few of you psychopath's who are condoning these actions please have a read of the above sentence.

We are talking about a young kid.

And even if we aren't, we're talking about a $3 train fare.... just stop and use your brain's for a second. Is that the society we want to become? Were we condone the legalised bashing of people over train fares. Cause that is a pretty disgusting society.

Hate to break it to you Crash but for most teenagers ensuring they have the "right passes" for travel is pretty low on the priority list. Yeah they'll probably always have them on hand just by the fact they are always in their wallet, but they're rarely going to head back home if they forgot their concession card.

How about this scenario, you're young one forgets her concession card, only realises when she sees some PSO's, decides to quick walk it out of there, and ends up in a similar situation. You'll be surprised at how easily these things can escalate even to the most innocent of kids when you have ADULTS who aren't capable of showing self control themselves. There are very few times when an Adult should be spear tackling a young teen - A government authorised male employee doing so to a 15 year old female for a slap in the face is definitely not one of them.

Thanks for breaking that to me.
Did you read the post above yours?

Was written at the same time as I was writing.

As adults, and in particular as adults put in a position of authority, it really is our responsibility to set the example. if anyone believes the over-reactionary nature of so many incidents is the example we want to set well that just speaks volumes for them.

My daughter went to Melbourne on the train a while back and forgot her concession card. On realising this she went up to an officer, explained her position and nothing happened because she did the right thing.

It's weird how people think because its a teenager they are incapable of causing an adult injury.

They seem to have a 1950's view of teenagers in 2013.

Not according to the Transport Act and its Regs. In breach = infringement.

Don't misunderstand my point, I reckon the AO did the right thing if he/she believed your daughter was genuine.

But it took the officers use of their personal discretion to override the shitty way the system is setup ie: Your daughter is guilty of an infringement.

Plenty of people get fines for this exact reason every day.

Should've had the key thrown away... Isn't that how it's supposed to work in your dystopian totalitarian fantasy?

Sorry? I think you might be talking shit.

I have no desire for any form of totalitarian government. The only reason however governments like that come to be is because there's so many mongs in society who can't act normal.

Taking repsonsibility for your own actions is a good place to start.

My daughter did.

Too bad so many rats out there won't take responsibility for theirs and want to blame others so quickly.

It's pretty easy to be a goood citizen.

It's also easy for over-zealous thugs who were too shit to become real cops to make your day really, really shit because they get off weilding their state sanction authority -

Your daughter was probably lucky that she didn't look like a minority or she was really good at flirting her way out of a fine...

Not having a public transport ticket =/= not being a good citizen.

The only reason however governments like that come to be is because there's so many mongs in society who can't act normal.

The only reason? wow.

So if I, or you, or anyone on these boards were to display all signs of being a "perfect" citizen (whatever the **** that even means anyway) then do I get to decide what is right and what is wrong, and what is normal?

And who and where are these "mongs" that I am supposed to be terrorised by on a daily basis. Anyone would get the impression that the streets were awash with all manner of filth corrupting our young minds. I feel sorry for those who feel so threatened by the everyday person.

Work, family, house, washing machines, big tv... :thumbsu:

Choose life.

Well it indicates either the person is a moron or trying to fleece the system.

How long have we all been told if you don't have a ticket you'll get a fine? I think enough years of being told have passed for there to no longer be exuses. I don't even live in Melbourne but even my kids know this.

It's not hard to avoid getting in trouble with any kind of authority in life.

In fact it's a piece of piss not to get into trouble.
