I was driving home from work yesterday and I had to slow down whilst this Asian guy crossed the road. He would have been mid 30s. Had trackies on, wearing a bum bag and sporting an akubra on his bonce.

I kid you not. He was crossing the road like this.

From what I've read and inferred from Youtube partnerships, the average amount a partner gets from Youtube is $2 per 1000 views. He may be on a better deal, but it's probably earned him (or his record label) about 1.2 million at this stage just from the Youtube video alone..

Ah it's no wonder you see popular videos pop up with a heap of duplicates being recorded from a phone.

Over 600 million morons served.
Maybe you haven't considered the people viewing it to see what the fuss was about. But I guess they must be morons as well.

So much projection in this thread. Not much to do in Adelaide is there?
Coming from the guy who took time to make a cover . Not to mention that Adelaide has nothing to do with this thread.

Oh dear god. The post wasn't even aimed at you, it was for the 'moron' man who's assertion that everyone who disagrees with him is a 'moron' is obvious projection. Didn't notice that you lived in Adelaide as well, would explain why you thought it was having a go at you :P.

Also I made the cover cos it was a shit ton of fun. More fun than being sooky on a forum, which seems to be the highlight of many a Bigfooty regular's day.

Ok, I take back what I said about you making the cover then but I still disagree with you on the Adelaide part :p.

Can't agree with this mate. There is no such thing as a good or bad genre - there are just good or bad songs. It comes down to two things IMO - the song and the performance. You could quite easily have Britney Spears do a great song - just the performance would suck. Smells Like Teen Spirit was a pop song - it wouldn't have been a bad song if the Backstreet Boys performed it.

Unfortunately most current Pop music is bad songs and bad performances but when someone gets it right, it doesn't matter about the genre.

All IMHO of course :)

I remember back in the 90s someone doing a live cover of Baby One More Time. Something makes me think it was Gomez? Anyway, Triple J played it a bit. It was great despite the alternative crowd like myself thinking the original was terrible. Actually opened my eyes (and ears).

Smells Like Teen Spirit was not 100% pop. Cobain himself said he wanted a few different genres meshed in the one song. If one of the Backstreet Boys can scream like Kurt Cobain, then you can tell me how their music has a shred of decency. But in no way are they comparable to Nirvana. They lose on all counts
