I don't know why this has taken so long to get here. But, two players players pulled the hair of other player in the last round. Yes, pulled hair, the kind of act that I thought was left to the confines of young Grade 2 boys towards a girl of a specific crush.
Hayden Ballantyne pulled Harry O'Brien's hair during the first quarter as the beginning of his game long attempt to get under the skin of any Collingwood player.
Sam Mitchell did it in the last quarter of the Hawks v Rich game and IMO probably will be remembered more than his last tackle to win the game.
They have both been cited by the MRP and been given $900 fines. Which is an offence as a "misconduct" and probably an apt fine.
My questions and slight moral outrage:
- What self respecting player pulls the hair of another player? Ballantyne is pretty pety and i can prob understand that there is a lack of morality here that would encourage him to pull another man's hair. Mitchell, i had more respect.
- What the the player trying to accomplish by pulling someones hair? Its not going to get your opponent stretchered off and leave you with $900 less for a new xbox or a few new games. Could it be that it would leave a player with the inability to play due to a sense of confusion?
- Do people with dreadlocks deserve to be punished by the pulling due to the fact that the have dreads?
