Short putting his body on the line and head over the ball was something we haven't seen for a long, long time (if ever). He showed glimpses of that in the practice game. It was arguably the most fully rounded game he's ever played.

Now he just has to do it every week.

Dow's kicking still lets him down as he too often just blazes away, but his hands are excellent and he wins his own footy. A lot to like about his game.

And Jack Ross showed exactly why he's not just in our best team but easily in our best 10 players. Could be our next captain. He's got leadership stamped all over him.

I'm still not sold on McIntosh as a tagger every week, but on the bigger, slower moving mids he will annoy and pressure the hell out of them. I didn't mind him rucking when Voss became separated from his brain and put Cripps into the ruck. He was good tonight, KMac, but we've got to choose the battles to use him.

I thought Banks and Brown both had really good second halves too, after both were very ordinary in the first half.

Went to the game with 10 other tigers. No expectations just happy to see the youngsters do their thing, well come the 3rd qtr my expectations were changing to dare to win, the signs were there. The chase, the hunt, the pressure and handball chains all up the young tigers were rattling the blues.

When that siren went high fives and hugs to strangers. At 41 points down let's be honest we didn't expect that come back but what a come back it was.

Normally i would agree with this however, I think letting them enjoy the moment is warranted after that. If there was ever a moment to do it, that was it. TBH if I could backflip without popping a knee, doing my back, shitting myself and ending up with a concussion, I would too

How did it go?
I found a new favourite moment, 13.40 minutes to go, the pile of bodies in McGovern and Haynes leaving the ball just inside, and we kick it straight to Bauer in the goal square for a classic slapstick major.
Funniest moment in the game. It's like Armstrong can't believe the level of potatoisms going on before him in that sequence leading up to him shoving Haynes on to the pile, picking up the ball and sending it to Bauer for the good times.

Watching the game back I noticed as soon as the Blues got 41 up we suddenly found our game and they lost theirs.

McIntosh was the initial firestarter, he wins a crucial 1v2 in the centre square which ends up in the Lynch goal and first of the comeback. But he also is involved in key defensive efforts in the minutes after this that break Carlton's flow and get the ball in our hands.

Hopper and Taranto both lift. Nank becomes a cheat code. Ross happens, like he kicks goals and gets super fired up both times which was so awesome to see.

Miller becomes like Grimes when Grimes had that break out game in SA on the road against Port in a match no one thought we could win. The match that lifted Grimes into Rancey's shoes. Blighty dacked McKay too.

Banks, Brown and Trainor all play a huge, consistent, defensive role in winning ball and executing delivery of it with precision.

On the flip Haynes, Motlop and Acres all decide to become elite potatoes and the Blues look like any Geelong team we've faced in our finals winning years after we went up a cog and they couldn't go with us. Panicky, mistake riddled but still managing to be arrogant in their deterioration.

I was surprised at how hungry we looked and how well we covered the ground.

awesome vid highlighting the work rate and toughness

I love the somersault. He was absolutely pumped after his sprint from behind that he was able to convert the goal and seal the match.Young kid just expressing his joy at what he was able to do. The other part is just when he kicks it, the roar of the crowd, that glorious sound takes me back to the finals wins at the G

Really positive for Armstrong that he was there to get the ball, that’s a testament to our organisation on field that a debutant can be trusted with responsibility for his flank like that. Yes the kick to Bauer was kinda high stakes but youd expect a high level footy player to make that kick. He lasered it.

Have a read of the Carlton board, they are already gunning for Vossy. 😭

I don't blame them. He looked the most shellshocked of all of them when the tide turned. He had zero answers.

As great as our guys were, a decent coach should have gotten that group of players to fight back even a little bit. they really just bent over and drooled once we got on top. They will deny it - but they looked like a club shitting bricks. As great as we were, they were putrid from a bit before half time. They would have went into that game pretty convinced that they had the 5 bests in the game in Cripps, Walsh, Weitering, McKay & Cerra/DeKoning. But we showed that if you can even take just a couple of those blokes out of the game, their underbelly is so soft that they become toothless, even against a side who might not even have a legitimate "A Grade" mature age player & a bunch of very raw kids. The lack of leadership Voss & the players on the field showed to steady their ship against a side that nearly everyone had as their wooden spooners - yikes

He was in some good contests too. Just couldn't quite grab them in. One of his closest chances was buggered when Mansell accidentally ran into him as he was juggling the mark and then the ball spilt.

A few pundits were sort of making excuses for Armstrong saying he did pretty well too; he actually was in the game a lot more than some of the Carlton blokes. Forgive me for not noticing Carlton had a bloke on the ground in the 44 jumper.
