Truly the start of the next generation. Last couple years gave felt like transition period and I think it effected the young guys not truly being able to step into their new roles.

Like last year if you come in when Dusty is out injured, it's not your spot and never will be. Dusty will always be in if he wants it.

Thursday felt different. The young guys felt like they had more purpose, leadership and desire. Could already see them start to build something new rather than just filling in for the injured or guys that retired like the past years.

Guys like Mansell and Ross especially who are the experienced guys if the 'next gen" really seemed to play with extra intent and purpose. Like they had room to play like they're the best option, rather than looking for the ol champs.

Dimma got Grimes from rookie list to captain Baker, Lambert. Broad is eterallly grateful to dimma. Rioli and stack stayed with him.
Brandon Ellis was a person improved by the 2017 sessions the players went through.
Grimes was a pre season pick..not rookie pick

This sealer was brilliant from coast to coast... Lalor strong & accurate, Mansell giving good space advantage, Ross with the deep kick to give Seth Campbell a chance to run sprinting past Cowan to get his toe to it first... and to top it off, that CELEBRATION! a cartwheel into a backflip :) slick & superb.

Here's some good examples of how good the #1 pick can be (a sign of things to come, I and I'm sure every Richmond supporter hopes):

- This leaping mark... impressive vertical and strength through the core.

- A nice fend on Weitering here and the smart quick give to Dow

- Some clean bodywork to ensure Haynes couldn't get in the way of Lalor marking this.
