nah we have a redevelopment of punt rd happening soon, next year i think.

REDEVELOPMENT? sounds good...think that if the G ever closes as an AFL venue (i know, wierd thinking but hey its a thought) it can become a venue again.

going to bunk in at the Lexus Centre :) Just thank Eddie for us :)

i know the tigers have trouble with the district cricket club during pre season and dont always get first use of the ground

The Cricket club, the small surface, and the hard surface all make things tough. For 6 months we are nomads training at Vic Park, Sandringham and wherever else we can get on. Even if we can get onto many ovals - the cricket means the centre-square is roped off.

That is a nuisance and costs money.

Coburg was trying to kick the cricket club off the City Oval to try and become a 'provider' of training facilites to AFL clubs. Make money renting out the ground for training and practice matches. Both Richmond and Essendon were interested. The local council backed the cricket club however.

So I wouldn't be suprised if we were looking to find a 'permanent' summer training ground. All the admin etc would remain at Punt Rd.

Punt Rd has a couple of problems at the best of times. We can't stage a closed training session. And the surface is so small we can't really prepare on an adult sized ground which makes practicing forward-line tricks a little half-baked.

I live is the west but i'd be bleeding if they left punt rd nothing better than a snag and a beer before a home game. Long live punt rd :)
