Society & Culture pushing in line

I don't like to push in but you gotta be on the ball.

Sometimes at fast food joints people just stand around in no real lineup and people will jump in ahead of you if they can.

Sometimes I just jump up but sometimes I wait to see if anybody wants to jump ahead of me, it's an interesting experiment if you're looking the other way they will go but if they make eye contact they know that you know that they're pushing in and they usually give way. :p

Don't expect people to be nice when lining up. Nobody wants to wait longer than they have to so watch out.

Working at Maccas, if people push in and I notice I will say something to the idiot who did it. Almost had someone punch me because of it. The system has changed (well at my store anyway) so there is normally only on till open, with another person getting orders. Makes sense to me, that way you don't have dumbasses who complain about there being no one serving. Or those who thing they are god's gift and stand at a till that is clearly not open...

I was lining up in a drive thru one time. This particular store had a large line and I remember turning in from the left. There were cars who lined up (after I had joined) on the right. This stupid prick decided to cut me off to get in front of me. I had had a shit day and wound down my window and went absolutely psycho at him. His stupid chick passenger started waving her cruiser bottle at me to which I said some really nasty things to her. Was absolutely livid...look back and lol now :D

Cheekiest thing I've seen is some girls walk up to some guys in the line, hug and kiss them and say 'Hiya!' like old mates..it later transpired they had never met and were using this ruse to queue jump. Below the belt!

I've been to places where the queue is for a venue in the middle of the block, and everyone is queueing from the left...then a rival queue starts on the opposite side coming in from the right and the door staff let it go!

I was actually in the same predicament many years ago, when a Telstra tech in his commo wagon decided to swoop in as I was reversing into an empty space. We both got out of our cars to argue about who got there first, and realizing that there was little wiggle room in our escalating debate, I conjured up an oscar-worthy hard-luck story of needing that car space to see my sick sister at the Queen Vic nearby. He was sympathetic to my 'plight' and quickly backed down... well, someone had to, otherwise it would've been a long night for George vs Mike. :o

Let's just say I won't be doing anything like that again. I'd rather walk/drive away from a potential stalemate. People will do anything for a parking space, and road rage these days can be a different kind of animal.

yeah, I had someone trying to save a car spot by standing in it, I just pulled up alongside and started reversing, they realised they had no chance and stepped aside

A few weeks ago, I saw a car pull out of a parking spot, and then just sit there, behind the other parked cars. The woman driving the thing got out, went to her boot, grabbed a bunch of orange cones, and proceeded to place them in the parking space in an official-looking arrangement, as if it was blocked off for a reason. Cheeky bitch. She did it in total view of anybody who happened to be watching as well. Shameless! If there hadn't been another park a few spaces up, I would have got out and moved them just as she was driving away (probably would have stolen the cones as well so she learnt her lesson).

!

I don't agree that people can push in if they know people.

I had VIP passes for summerdaze a few years ago and still had to line up for an hour and a half to get in. About 20 coked up tanned and topless guys, all wearing indian feather head pieces, pushed in 10 meters in front of where i was standing. From memory they didn't even bother pretending they knew people in that point of the line. They just pushed in because they're awesome.

I push in lining up to get drinks every time I go to get one. I thought this was normal behaviour.

Never pushed in at fast food places etc.

I agree, at a crowded bar/nightclub its pretty much every man for themselves, if you dont try push in then you will never get served

This is standard practice at my work as the carpark isnt big enough for the amount of staff working there.

Last three or four in have to park on the road. Sad to say, from term 2 onwards, that was me. :(
