What is Todd Carbone’s coaching background?
He served as club captain for many years and, according to the Vultures’ Instagram, is now an Under 17s coach, having previously worked as the seniors’ backline coach.

It’s unfortunate that Cam James’ stint was cut short, especially considering he led the side to success in Round 1. However, it’s hard to know what’s happening behind the scenes or how his relationships within the club may have influenced the decision.

might it have had something to do with only 19 spots being available at selection each week?
You’re not far off, especially considering the three of them combined for 14 points. Coaching your own sons is always risky; it can create tensions and rarely ends well for everyone else involved.

Spoke to someone in the know and it all started back in Feb when Peter Young told the Coach he wouldn't have appointed him, then just got worse from that time forward. Obviously came to a head on Thursday.

I was told Cam James resigned Thursday/Friday and didn't Coach on Saturday. Two of his kids played on Saturday and 1 was named in the best. Surely if it was about that they would've been dropped and not played seniors you would think.

Fascinating to see how this year plays out as their qafl contract expires this year.

You would think they beat Coorparoo by 4-5 goals, and should beat Grange if their team are on VFL duties that weak. They should closely challenge Broady, Aspley and Noosa. They don't play Sherwood again.

The main problem is their junior base is just utterly terrible

i imagine it would be impossible to compete with grange, morningside, coorparoo and sherwood who have powerhouse juniors and a promising senior pathway.

Peter young running another club into the ground

In his last stint at Mt Gravatt, they were regular finalists.

He then went to Labrador, and they were going well with him in place.

He then had stints in the QFA at Coomera and Cararra, and I believe won premierships at one of them, maybe both?

MtG issues started a long time after he left, Labrador not struggling, Coomera appear ok and Cararra issues are a crazy cricket club and a weak council - so which club has he ruined exactly?

I don't think he's ruined a club but he's wormed his way into multiple coaching roles by getting rid of senior coaches from a role in footy administration. Why would a premiership team like Burleigh sack him after winning a flag , Surfers Lost a heap of players to Logan a few years back when he was at the helm .

He can't be trusted

Mt Gravatt have had issues since the 90's. Back then ot was players not getting paid and they lost alot of great players.

From what Ive heard Lab, coomera and carrara don't have a very high opinion of him.

Anyway time will tell, good luck to Mt Gravatt for the rest of the year.

Think it’s a pretty strong reflection on the club in the last decade.

Many coaches at the vultures only surviving a year before leaving for a multitude of reasons. Multiple football directors who either run the show or let the senior coach/players walk all over them.

Overhyped players who would be lucky to be in another clubs best 22. But are treated as gods in their own inner circles. In-fighting and backstabbing on the committee that spills into the footy world. Mates rates and a lot of accountability lost on ego.

I’m sure the new group coming through are trying their best and bringing new culture but I find that this has been a decade old death the vultures have been battling poorly. Two ‘legend’ players with no real coaching experience and were very much apart of the toxic culture there when they were playing and were happy to let it fall apart are now taking the reins. Do they not learn from their mistakes?

I don’t think a strong juniors equates to a strong senior program but both are below par at Vultures. Wishing them best of luck for season ahead.

Certainly Carbone is someone who deserted them in a critical time, then failed to get a game elsewhere and now comes back as coach would be a bitter pill for those who have been holding the place together in a meantime

good comments here ,,,from what I know ,,you are spot on

Anyone’s thoughts on why Aspley is so bad this year??
Changing of the guard, Aspley had a good decade really, including performing well at a VFL level. Alot of the core guys from that team got older and some are pursuing a pay day with FIFO etc. Whilst they won't play finals this year the club is well resourced and will likely bounce back quickly.
