Goal to Riewoldt on the siren, just what we needed:thumbsu:

Much better finish to that quarter after we looked in all sorts of trouble early on. Our pressure is starting to sway the momentum our way, just need to keep it going after half time.

Rooey looking ready to fire

Kosi just not looking as usual

Raph Clarke out next game, Max back in

Raph's still way too suspect under finals type pressure, at least two Collingwood goals have come from him fumbling or taking wrong options. Ridiculous to think he is playing ahead of someone like Hudghton.

Rooey was great in that quarter but Kosi has been disappointing, apart from that opening goal. He's getting beaten by Leigh Brown FFS, needs to lift big time.

how good was Goodards hit on that panzy Thomas?

Yeah that was awesome, hopefully it puts him out of action for the 2nd half.

Indeed, Raph, rather inexcusable to turn your back on the player with the ball and leave the goalsquare unguarded. You either efend yoru man or you park your arse in that square to cut down the angles, poor effort that.

But much better quarter that 2nd one, time to boogie into the 3rd and stamp out that disco beat. :p

We're dominating now, if only Kosi could kick straight we'd have a match winning lead.

While dominating general play, we won't be dominating until we have a 5+ goal lead, burst play is rather dangerous when a side can go pop pop and suddenly 1 kick is in it to decide the victor.

Authority by play, authority by margin.

Just noticed this on the Hun page.

Blake quoted as Gram XD

We should've wrapped up the game in that quarter, let the Pies back in with a couple of late ones. Goddard going off has really hurt us.

What's with the umpires suddenly cracking down on the 15m rule for a mark? At least three or four marks that should have been paid were called play on. F***ing knobheads.

Hey guys, quick one. if all things go good this last 20 mins, what prelim are we going to be playing in? friday or saturday??

cheers

Man Channel 7 are quick on the draw. Took them until 5 minutes left in the game to start questioning why Adelaide gets a two day advantage over a higher ranked team. how much worse would it have been if we were playing them. The minor premier getting no advantage, now that would have been criminal.

This is all because the AFL listened to Adelaide and their complaints about a saturday game. They whined and complained and got their Friday night game and now they are getting a huge advantage from it.

Great win in the end. We made it hard for ourselves though when we really could have sealed it earlier but as long as you win who gives a f***.

Enormous games from Dal Santo and Hayes in the middle, just worked their arses off all day. Great captain's knock from Riewoldt too, kicking crucial goals when we needed them. McQualter, Gram, Fisher, Montagna and Gilbert were all superb as well and Kosi, Raph Clarke, Dawson, Schneider and Milney all got better as the game went on, after having ordinary first halves.

Nothing better than seeing the Collingwood players, coaches and supporters all gutted after a loss :D. Bring on the prelim!!!!

You can boogie on Disco, love that disco sound.

A fair effort to try and keep the Pies in the game with wayward kicking but was never in doubt after half time and signs are there of everyone pulling their weight when required. Good news with no serious damage to Goddard, a win, a week off, no injuries and kicking the bejesus out of the Pies.

Sunday perfect bloody Sunday.

I hate to break the news, but Richmond didn't make the finals...

;)

I would think we'll get the Friday game to give us as the one day advantage, but I may be wrong... You never know these days.

Stronger win than the win by the cats - never looked in danger after halftime - too much pressure for the pies. better to come - looking like a saints v cats final!
roo, hayes, chips, mini, jones, joey, b.j, dal, schneids, gardi - all fantastic!

and great to see ball getting the hard balls!

Gram was great tonight, top effort. And when Fisher plays like that we are back to the form of the first half of the season. How was that bloody 15m rule interpretation? I don't think it got called once for the pies, shocking. Blake crucified by them yet again.

Bring on the prelim!

Well, it took us a while to get going again (be honest - what were your feelings halfway through the first quarter of Rd 1 v Sydney ?), but that was quite impressive.

Collingwood basically gave up before they started, relying on luck (long bombs into the 50). Rocca actually got two goals, but with players like Davis, Didak, Thomas, Medhurst, I just cannot understand those tactics. Cloke and in particular Anthony were nowhere to be seen. Moving Koschitzke into the backline solved that problem (if there ever was one), even creating some more room with the far more mobile Clarke upfront.

The scoreboard doesn't quite reflect it, but this was as onesided as the Adelaide v Essendon game.

Riewoldt is a genuine superstar (one of the best performances I have seen this year) and Fisher has found his form just in time (42 disposals with 98% efficiency). Our midfield was sensational (Collingwood losing Pendlebury for basically the entire game helped, I guess) and the pressure game came back from the second quarter.

Too early to talk about changes (will depend a lot on who we'll play). Hudghton will be keeping his fingers crossed for Brisbane - otherwise I would not be surprised to see an unchanged team.

I will be VERY surprised if Raph Clarke keeps his spot in the team....Max or Geary for Raph

I'm known to be a Raph fan, but I think he'll stay. He put his body on the line several times, never gave up with a lot of second efforts, ran all day creating space and opportunities and has shown his mobility when he moved into the forward line (neither Max nor Geary could have played his role). And he was one of just four without an "official" clanger (I would have given him one) His first quarter wasn't great, but he was certainly not the only one.
