Since I've been following the Bombers since the early 80's I can honestly say I've only seen one crumbing small forward of any quality & goalkicking potential and that's Darren Bewick.

Have we tried to recruit and failed? Do we as a club not value this kind of player?

I think Derek Kickett played the role well but I guess he was more of a centreman, Darren Bewick was a gun, Gary Moorecroft was'nt to bad but I agree we need a quality crumber. I will add I no its only VERY early days but i'm not convinced in Dell yet, I've watched him in the 2's and I have'nt been convinced yet but time will tell

Dell'Olio? Davey? Jetta? There's 3 small, crumbing forwards on the list.

Quality? Jetta only at the moment. The coaching mob would be crossing their fingers hoping Davey can find some form this week and Dell'Olio can demand a spot. Small forwards are one of the last pieces of the puzzle IMO, if that's all we have to worry about at present we are doing very well.

Jetta is the best crumbing forward on the list.

Haven't seen enough of Dell'Olio to determine whether he is a crumber, or more of a marking small forward.

Bewick was more a HF than a crumber IMO.

Also small forwards score less when you have gun key forwards. We had Lloyd and Salmon in recent times. As wll as Lucas.

I would love to see Colyer played forward more, he could be deadly around goals. please learn to kick Trav.

Actually Bewick was a second rover ( started in 88 ) with stints as a first rover - Injury forced him to play more as a small forward - And he could crumb.

95 games, 51 goals. Not really a great return. In fact, not even a "not bad" return.

Not sure where you pulled these incorrect stats from, kicked 102 goals from 95 games at Essendon. Returns of 30 from 17 in 1999 and 23 from 18 in 2000. Would bob up and kick multiples, unfortunately never recovered from "that" mark.

detest Milne as much as the next, but he's about to kick his 500th...

I Don't see Milne with a premiership medallion, just a selfish small forward that can kick goals.

We want our small forwards to be resting from the midfield.

(Colyer, Jetta & Zaka)

Yeah premiership medellions aren't the be all and end all.. lots of GREAT players have ended their careers without one but I still wouldn't want Milne ANYWHERE near EFC.

Absolute pig of a 'man/boy' and selfish... and not that good actually, very easy to get cheap ones over the top at the feet of Roo and Kosi etc..

I'll stick with the Geelong model of having our resting mid in there.. the likes of melksham, jetta, monfries, zaka, heppell, colyer, hocking, watson (who has been kicking a few lately), stanton just to name a few...

I think Jetta is going to be just as exciting as betts or garlett.. he just needs to be a little bit more selfish and do the gut running and he has all the skills.. 4 last week was just the start.. I really rate Leroy and he and Ryder love playing together!! Good times are a coming!

Maybe we should ask Carlton if they could lend us Eddie Betts. :p

Bewick and Guy McKenna were my fav players as a very small child, apparently I was saying their names at age 4 and I had no exposure to football via my family, I probably just watched a West Coast vs Essendon match, from there I decided to follow Essendon.
