I don't know if many have realised but Collingwood is currently on fire in terms of quarters won. Over the past 4 matches we have won 14 straight (due to winning the last two against Adelaide) which is a club record and prior to today we had never won all 4 quarters in 3 or more consecutive matches.

The 27th time that Collingwood has won consecutive matches in all 4 quarters - but are yet to win more than two in a row.

So from last weeks results we had won all 4 quarters in 2 consecutive matches 27 times but never managed to go one better until today! IMO it's an impressive achievement considering many of us were crying out for 4 quarter efforts in the first 8 weeks of the season and also when coupled with our ability to play burst footy if the need arises.

So how much longer do people think we can keep this current streak going?

geelong got the record last year, can't remember what it was, something in the 20's maybe

Oh I probably could have made it clearer that these were both purely Collingwood records. Just thought it was impressive that we've been around for almost 120 years and this is the most consecutive quarters we've won in that time.

If we can get to 22 straight then I will be very happy man.
Great effort to become more consistent.

Well you can pencil us in for 18 straight at least, we've got the bunnies after the bye.

Key words "after the bye". Hopefully we can break the hoodoo.

Your not wrong, even though we have had the wood over Sydney for the last few years. I am not looking forward to traveling + bye hangover voodoo. Especially considering we dished up rubbish to Geelong coming off the previous bye.

However, that being said. I have read in the paper this morning that Malthouse has said they have been planning for this bye for the last 7 months as their main mid-season break, and have put a lot of planning in place for recovery and how to get the boys back up for game intensity.

It will be interesting to see how we go coming off the bye. But i am more upset about having to sit through another weekend without a pies game.

Haven't we played Sydney after the bye at ANZ stadium for the last 3-4 years in a row? Hasn't worried us yet :)

Yeah but in those cases we've both had the bye, this time its just us.
I don't think it should affect us, we are in much better form the past few weeks than we were heading into our first bye

I always keep my eye on the quarters won stat, and we are now equal with the cats on 31 for the year. Good sign.

However the Herald Sun's ladder includes a stat of "Time in Front" of which we are far and away in front. In total we have been in front for 78% of the time with the next nearest team being the WCE on 67%. I think this is an indicator of how we are going along with the points for and points against, stats in which we are #1

Sydney have been awful. Even if we put only a half of footy together we should still just get over the line. Not meaning to be too cocky, but they were just rubbish against the team we pounded the week before

We can hardly blame the bye on our last loss (our only loss) when Pendelbury had kicked the winning goal......

Wasn't exactly a buzzer bearer, thus not the 'winning' goal. Certainly would have put us in front with a couple of minutes left though.

It was the last "score" of the match.

Yeah but the cats ran the clock off and still nearly scored again. I'd like to think we would have won had the goal been allowed but that's tough to say with plenty of time left and the ball going back to the middle.

They ran down the last minute and 15 odd seconds from the resultant kick in

K get you are trying to be as unbiased as possible but get you're hand off it

I just don't agree that it was definitely the 'winning goal'. I do think we'd have been very good favorites though. But one clearance out of the centre with more than a minute to go?

It's a moot point guys - the key here was that we were without Jols and Brown, plus had Swanny playing on one leg and Tarrant still not settled in fully. That's without considering Dids being horribly out of form. When we meet them next with a full team in for they are toast.

Here's hoping! :thumbsu:
I also wonder how much the break affected our slow start to the game. We were spanked in the first quarter and, thankfully, the cats were inaccurate. I have noticed a few sides have started slowly after the break.Next time we play them we will be ready to go come the first bounce. And, as you mentioned, we will hopefully have a more fully fit list.
