Hi froars.

Last week, we got into a spat over Tivendale's selection. How do you feel about the selection of Hyde over Polo or Rance?

My feeling is that this is a "one last chance selection" by TW. I do not agree with it for the same reasons as last week. Hyde is an honest toiler at best. No right side to his game (like Tivendale). He is another player that has been shown consistently to fail at the the bigger hurdles. Hasn't been given as many chances as Tivendale, but at the same time didn't deserve a recall as he played a shocker at Coburg whilst Polo, a youngster, has played a couple of good games in a row. I wonder what sort of message that is sending to the young blokes at the club?

I thought Tivendale deserved his spot. I'm not saying not play the kids if they deserve them. If Rance deserved it then that's disappointing he missed out. Would have also have been a good time to blood a new kid against an opposition who's not travelling too good. So I agree, I think Rance deserved his spot ahead of Hyde. Hyde has had chances.
I'm talking more about keeping a senior player forever down in the seconds. You can't do that if they're playing well. Rodan was kept there a lot when he played with us and look what happened to him.
Sometimes that's all they need to refresh themselves is a spell down there, and sometimes players will never change, but you should always give them a chance IMO - with Rodan being a great example of why you should.

PURE and simple, the selection of Hyde is deplorable.

Ahead of Polo, Rance or even Edwards, double that sentiment!!!

lol, I remember that!

The worst thing is most teams play their youngsters for "player management" reasons when they know they cannot make (or don't deserve to make) the finals.

Our "player management" team would consist of Tivendale, Hyde, Pettifer and Bowden. LMAO!
