A friend of mine wants to buy tickets to the 1st final that Collingwood are in. She is NOT a member and I just wanted to know how she should go about getting tickets? Do you buy them online?? On the Monday morning before the game??

I believe what will happen this year, like most years, is Club members get 1st shot at the tickets (probably Monday), then on the Tuesday all other tickets go on sale to the public.

Either way, whether we are playing StKilda or Geelong, there will be plenty of tickets left after the members tickets are placed on sale, thanks to the MCG's capacity.

Oh yeah, if she can, buy them online, hell of a lot easier and quicker then lining up or the phone.

The first round of finals is normally easy to get a ticket to... Although given that it's likely to be collingwood geelong the crowd may swell to 80-90 thousand.

Buying online is one way, but be waiting until 8:59 am and keep hitting the refresh button until you get in. This has worked very well for me in the past and I havent missed a ticket (even got a prelim ticket in 07, I was a member but was going with non members).

Queuing up at a ticketek (master?) also works well, without the concern of the website dying with all the traffic they get. However, I'd suggest getting there bright and early and chosing your venue well. I queued with a doggies fan a few years back and whitten oval and at 8am there was about 150 pepole lined up.

Cover your bases :-p get somone in a queue and you online, then call to see who books the tickets first and have the other person pull out.

All and all, I know it costs, but get a membership that gurrantees you a finals ticket. You get it two days earlier than most people, without all the stress. Buying tickets gave me the irrits after a while.

The question you need to ask her is why arent you a member? :D

I only became a member for the first time this year, but I didn't have a problem getting into any of our finals, in melbourne, the last couple years as a non-member. Just log on to the site at 9am and you should be ok.

She is not from Victoria and will be in town for Pies V Geel (Probably) on that Saturday.... I've never had to think about it before!!

Not being from Victoria isnt a good reason for not being a member though.

I hope she enjoys the MCG and Finals Footy though :thumbsu:
