Hey guys, I'm not trolling in any way, I was just looking through an AFL Fixture trying to find a few games to go to, and I came across this...

ROUND 6

Friday 25 April

Collingwood v Essendon
MCG 2.40 PM

Fremantle v Geelong
Subiaco 8.40 PM

Saturday 26 April

...

It's probably been talked about already previously but could someone please give me some insight as to why there is a game scheduled so early, even though it's ANZAC Day? Thanks guys.:thumbsu:

Anzac Day.
I know it's ANZAC Day, but I still don't fully understand why it's being played so early in the day. Surely they could have pushed the time down to 7:30pm and the Freo Geelong game on another day?

I would think it's because of tradition and because if it were pushed back then the ANZAC soldiers and all the old timers who come to the game because of what it represents would not go because of how late it would go to.

It's been on at the same time, same day for over 10 years. Most electric game of the year. It's definitely not broken, let's not touch it!

While we're at it, why bother playing on weekends? Surely MCG would be cheaper to rent & staff if all games were played at, say, Tuesday at 11am...
No need to get snippy, twas just a question.

I guess it's just a suprise to me, as I don't think I have witnessed a game so early on a Friday, it was more or less a shock to me!

Thanks guys:thumbsu:.
