Hi everyone, I am an older Australian and I know this question will sound crazy.
How do you get to listen to a podcast like Newmo89s? I know you pay but not quite sure how to go about it.
Would ask my kids but they will think I am double crazy. Cheers.

You'll want to download an app for your phone if you regularly want to listen to podcasts. The Talking Hawks podcast I think is only on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Apple Podcasts is only on iPhone/Apple products, Spotify available everywhere.

There's no payment required. Spotify might play an ad every now and then but generally podcasts are free and so are the apps you use to listen to them on. There are often options to support these podcasts through donations but that is optional.

If you follow this link on your computer or phone then you'll be able to just play it in your web browser. There's also a link within the page near the top that will open it up in Spotify (where you can subscribe and listen). If you don't have the app already then it will redirect you to your phones app store to download it for free.

Great summary. Probably getting a bit advanced here, but most podcasts (including Talking Hawks) can add RSS streams, which means that you can 'subscribe' to that podcast from any podcast app (certainly some of the bigger ones on Android such as YouTube Music and PocketCasts). The RSS feed is the orange icon with the three curved lines in it.

Gather round ticket query

Trying to buy two adult tickets for Gather Round 13 April 2025 Port Hawks game. A short queue this afternoon but only one of us is a member. I seem to only get an option to buy 1 member's ticket and that's it. Is it possible to buy for a member and a guest?

Do I try my luck tomorrow when the general public gets a go, assuming it's even possible by then? (Given there were 34,500 ahead of me in the queue this morning seems likely it will sell out by then)

Today was a member presale, I was only able to secure tickets with my membership. 1x per barcode.
Makes it difficult for members and non-members to get seats.

You will have to try your luck in the GA tomorrow

Okay, thanks. I'll do that but won't hold my breath!

Question 1: If a potential draftee knows that they will be selected in a draft... in this hypothetical they are a likely top 15 draftee (all get drafted) ... but also know that they have a weakness about their combine testing results... be it endurance, speed, or jump... is it in their interest to fake an injury and put on a moonboot for a month to skip the combine?

I think Yes, it is the right move.

Question 2: would Massi have missed out in his draft year if the skills kicking accuracy test still existed? I am glad that Massi's journey brought him to the Hawks. But why was the kicking accuracy test given The flick?

If it's the test (the Nathan Buckley designed one) I think it is it was a bit flawed. It was something like run to each cone and kick to a target.

But many players can execute this skill as there is no pressure. On the training track I was the best kick in the team, because nobody was chasing me and I knew before getting the ball that I was kicking to the guy on the next cone. In a game i'd get the ball and not know who to kick to, or i'd be running flat chat to avoid getting tackled and not hit the kick properly. And then there was my other problem, I never got the bloody ball in the first place, let alone in space.

1 of Massimo's strengths is he can get the ball in a tight spot with players closing in and know where to kick and get boot to ball quickly and accurately.

With trading of two year future draft picks coming in, what nomenclature will be used? Currently we use F4 for a future fourth, (2026 4th round this year for example, but what will we use for the 2027 future 4th?)

A couple of ideas I have are:

  1. Use F26-x for 2026 and F27-x for 2027 (obviously increment the years as appropriate);
  2. Use Fx for 2026 and Gx for 2027;
  3. Use Fx for 2026 and fx for 2027;
  4. Use Fx for 2026 and (the rather unwieldy) F2-x to indicate two years out.

I think option 1 is best, but I dunno. This could keep me awake more at night than wondering why octopi have 8 tentacles and not 7 (which consumed my daughter for about 3 nights in a row when she was 5 or 6, and we'd have deep chats about it at 3 in the morning...)

Several commentators said Sicily threw the ball as he ran around the back of the goal post just after Picket's free kick. Is that right? I'd say he was in possession the whole time...

According to the AFL rules:

Possession of the Football: a designation to a Player who:
(a) is holding or otherwise has control of the football; or
(b) is in the act of bouncing the football.

He certainly had control of it.

Yeah, not a throw.

"Throws" relate to illegal disposal. He wasn't disposing of the ball. Just cleverly managing his possession of the ball with the goal post in his way.

Yes you're allowed to throw the ball anyway, you just can't dispose of it illegally.

Players literally through the ball multiple times every game, it's called a bounce. When they are lining up to kick for goal they throw the ball to themselves.
