I don't even know how I managed to do that, I even had to search to find the alerts.

It's to save battery, or energy in general. Black text on a white background uses up so much more battery than white text on a dark background.

If your computer/laptop has a HDMI port you can connect that to your TV. Otherwise you can potentially ‘cast’ your computer/laptop to the TV using your wifi network if your TV allows that. You’d need to Google that one or ask a tech savvy person you know because I’m fairly terrible at explaining things.

If it is a desktop computer and it’s not near the TV then yes you’d need a bloody long cord unfortunately.

Easiest way to do this wireless, is to buy a Chromecast. You can get the 1080p (HD) option for $59 from JB Hifi or Officeworks (just google 'Google Chromecast). This plugs into the back of your TV via an HDMI port. Then you can 'cast' the game to your TV.

I use Chrome as my web browser, and when I click on the match video, it then opens into a new window. Just right click anywhere on the dark blue area and select cast (see screenshot below):

If the cable distance is going to be >5m than consider an optical fibre HDMI cable. I bought a 10m one off Amazon recently so I can play PC games on my TV and it works great.

Brand was 'Bridgee' and you can get up to a 20m length cable for $65.

Chromecast is also a good option.

Hi libbylou, a chromecast will definitely work with Apple computers, provided you're using Chrome as your browser (see here). It will also work if you're casting from an iOS device such as an iPhone or an iPad. Understand if you're going the wired route though.

I think so , he had a year left when he took his bat and ball. He travelled to US and UK last year and I remember comments about us paying for it. But I do love that your question is quite important to the financial stability to our club and the next ten posts are about some old codgers it problems

I dont think so, that's why he couldnt start at North until Nov 1 or something last year, as he was technically still under contract with us

A cheap option you may also want to consider

I stream the Box Hill games from the AFL app on an old iPhone 6 using this adaptor. Works a treat but you will need the HDMI cable to hook up to the TV

OsakaHawk if you haven't seen a game live for 15 years and are taking your family
you may be better off paying a bit more money for tickets.
General admission doesn't get you a seat and you may be in the top level.
Better to pay a bit more for a seat with a closer view of the match.

I have an international membership and I believe it includes four tickets per year to a home game. Worth looking into if you have that type of membership.

Can anyone satisfactorily explain why a team from Tasmania may have to negotiate with an American corporation, Warner Bros, to use the name of its own state animal???

I find this ridiculous...the name of this animal has been appropriated by another country as a cartoon character..fair enough. Surely their rights to the phrase "Tassie/Tasmanian Devil" extend only as far as the borders of Tasmania.

Reminds me of when an American company bought the trademark "UgBoots"...and then tried to sue a company in Australia for calling its own products ugboots. Thankfully sanity prevailed then, and ugboot was considered part of Australian cultural language pre-trademark...hopefully "Tassie Devil" is the same...

I'm no lawyer, but my understanding it's because the team will be using the name, which is trademarked by Warner Bros. for commercial purposes. If it was just to name a sports team, that's a little different.
