Officially, I think it's 27,800.

But, naturally, there will always been a few thousand season seat holders who don't turn up every week.

The biggest crowd in the last decade or so has been 24,100 from memory and thousands were turned away from getting in. With the people that didn't turn up it still wouldn't be any higher then 25k.

for every person geelong get to the telstra dome, i think on average it works out at about 8 dollars. For every person they get to a game at skilled its like 25 dollars from memory.

So really 23,000 at skilled gets them more money then a sold out game at the telstra dome. Thats what i read anyways.

If im wrong about that please feel free to embarrass me :)

Hi guys, sorry for the intrusion.

Was wondering what the capacity is at the moment at Skilled?

Someone said there was 23,000 at the match V Melbourne. I was thinking, especially given the flag unfurling, it'd be higher.

Any help would be appreciated.

Supposedly 27k but you seldom ever see it over 23,000 and that is jam packed as it is.

It's never made any sense to me why the crowds never come close to the 'capacity' of the ground. Perhaps they are including 4k of people who would fit on the field if it was a concert or family day.

Will the next re-development get us 25k at a sellout with 30k+ capacity?

I dunno about previous years, but the gate we went in against the Dees, everyone on the gate wasn't zapping tickets. To busy talking to themselves :p

Hey dudes. I just posted this on the "annual report" thread so if it sounds like I'm repeating myself. It's cause I am.

Just for the record. Last time we got anywhere near 27,000 at KP was in R9 2001 V's Richmond. (27,421). Going into the match we were 3 wins & 5 losses. Weren't exactly setting the world on fire there. And Richmond were the opposite. 5 wins & 3 losses.

I believe the capacity of SS is around 25k, the Port Adelaide match was jam packed last season (Rnd 21), it set a post-redevelopment record as well (IIRC) of around 24.3k, i continually looked around the ground and could hardly count more then 20 seats vacant.

I think they have over-estimated the standing room capacity by >1000

It also could have something to do with the AFL's contract or whatever, where we must the majority of our home games in a 27,000+ capacity venue, the figure may be bumped up to meet this requirement.

Anyways the main point is we make around $600k per game with an average of 22,000 at our SS games, the less we play at the Phone Dome the better, how a stadium that is around 45,000 less capacity then the MCG can have a higher break even point is beyond me.
