Seriously people!
The sky is not falling, we will be fine
sure, we have lost a star for very little, but for crying out loud, the pot shots at anyone and everyone involved with the club, its stupid and ridiculous!

embrace the hunt, enjoy the ride!

i get it, most of you arent used to the club not being competitive on field, but, that doesnt mean you should jump off the ship

this is a fantastic time to be a hawk supporter, we dont know what the future holds
this is exciting
enjoy it!

But, but, but Mitch for 88 !!!

Let's face it, once Mitch, Hodge, Burgers, Gibbo and Lewis all retired in the next year or so we would have landed at Destination ****ed! We've gone aggressive here, just as we needed to. As sad as it is to see Mitch and potentially Lewis go, it's kind of exciting what lies ahead!

Get around it people!

People talk about loyalty and one club players. Much harder with the free agency model that is now in place. Got to go with the ride and trust that the club is well run and has a plan to make us successful again.

When its all said and done at least we are not Essendon. At least we did not run a systematic doping program.
Maybe the players aren't but have we drug-tested the footy department, including the coaches ???

Yeah, i know, trust the experts, they have brought us so much success. I just wish the picture was clearer right now. Substitute T Mitch and O'Meara for Sam and possibly Jordy ? With our first draft pick this year being 54 (presuming we use 10 in the O'Meara deal) and no first round pick next year ? A real head-scratcher at the moment. Hopefully by Thursday it becomes clearer.

Anyone will be negative about a stupid exchange, when no one can explain how Sam's re-contracting by Hawthorn and subsequent trade to West Coast was (or will ever be regarded as) good management.

I have no doubt that we'll come out looking pretty good by the end of next week - but jeez when you lose a star for no good reason it's going to irk the fans.

This is the unfortunate face of our modern game ,it's big business these days and when you lose a club legend ,it's natural to be very pissed off,I'd be shattered if he was from our club, but coming from a west coast supporter it has given us a bit of excitement to have a player of this calibre come over to our side of the country ,hopefully our younger kids will learn from Sams experience here's a guy at 34yo and won your F&B ,you'd think he'd have a couple more good years in him, followed by a couple of years coaching ,but I've gotta feeling than when SAMs done a few years coaching over here he'll be back involved with your great club
Clarko is an afl trendsetter and done an enormous job at hawthorn I'm sure you guys will end up for the better

Why? Everyone should be questioned when things don't add up, allowing things to happen without questions and giving people free rein on anything they do is what causes shit to go terribly wrong. Both sides of the debate are clueless to the future as the other.

I'd rather our club to be useless and noncompetitive for years than the way we've went about treating our legends and servants of the club, you may claim its the trend of how the game is heading but it leaves a massive disconnect with the faithful.

o..or Ty Vickery.

We'll be okay. Perhaps the Lewis thing could have been done a little more eloquently.

How exactly? The press is going crazy saying this is a massive stuff up but I don't see it. We have rumours running wild of the Clarkson and Lewis relationship now not workable, but all gossip and hearsay.

Here's what we know for a fact: you only stay in the hawthorn side when you can earn your spot. Clarkson told Lewis in the end-of-season interview that the game had passed Jordan by and next year would be his last. Jordan was surprised. How could he not be? I am surprised. But that Doggies loss cannot be denied.

And we also know that Jordan then undertook finding opportunities that will last longer than next year, apparently not wanting to hit the market as a free agent after 2017. You could attribute anger and emotionalism to him. Or, you could say that he recognises the truth of Clarkson's assessment and realises his best chance of a large deal is to get a contract now before he shows up as slower still next year under everyone's glaring eye.

It doesn't all need to be an emotion fuelled shitstorm when making hard decisions.

And one more question: if you were Lewis' agent tasked with shopping him around for a multi-year deal, how would you frame Jordan's motivation? A falling out between coach and player or a recognition that his value at hawthorn is limited? GW is not the only crafty negotiator in football, you know.

I don't think Mitch has been treated badly. I think we have really thought about what he needs.

Not so sure about Lewis though....

I'm backing Clarko completely I'm guessing now with pick 10 we land JOM
In a perfect world I would use picks 1 and 6 on JOM and TOM so I'm looking at what we have used to get those picks and happy with it
On Sammy the other reasoning for letting him go is opportunities for younger guys in the midfield
There is a real possibility that we could have lost 1-2 of our young midfielders this year if they thought that they wouldn't get opportunities and in 12 months time we would be in real midfield trouble so I think it's brilliant we can land 2 guns and in my opinion 1 of them the next Dangerfield (which is a big call)
I'm excited by Clarko looking at building our next premiership team
Buddy leaving showed us it's a business as well as a sport and in business sometimes you have to be ruthless unfortunately

I agree with everyone's reasoning, and that Sammy needs to look after himself and his family. It's just turned me off the whole game a little.

It really is embarrassing when hawks supporters are calling the club about bad management after they have just enjoyed an extended period of success. Four premierships people! Mitchell didn't get euthanized, he got a opportunity to do something he loves and experience it from a new perspective. He has been at box hill/ hawthorn for about 16 years. Let him fly.

Also, in a way, I am excited about them trading out next year's first round draft pick because it probably means that they don't think they have to do a full rebuild.

Let them do what they do and hope it works out.

Couldn't agree more. The outcry by some has been pathetic. I trust clarko and gw to do the best for the club. Record to date is impeccable.
