Dempster can have his spot. Raph hasn't got the courage under the ball, and dropped a lot of marks during the year. I'm sure he'll get better with a full pre-season, but the Saints have to stop playing him when he's half fit. Ditto with X.

The saints will give him another chance. Up to him now for 2008.

Don't like him at all. Most of it is attitude..... Happy to delist... If however he ever decided to give 110%, then welcome home.. :)

will prove a lot of people wrong next year

Well he'd want to hurry up and prove us wrong. He's been at the club 4 years for little result so far.

Later in his draft was Sam Fisher, Beau Waters, Ryan Murphy, Brent Stanton, David Mundy, Jed Adcock, Amon Buchanan, Michael Rischetelli, Andrew Raines.

He was a big investment at No 8.

And before him was Kepler Bradley, Kane Tenace, Colin Sylvia and Farren Ray .... your point being?

Surely we can't take any solace from other team's mistakes. I don't mind Sylvia and Ray anyway if we are comparing.

He's a top 10 pick who isn't showing nearly enough. I'd say a few saints fans have seen enough.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see him turn it around - but it ain't going to happen merely with the passage of time.

Yeah, I'd also love to see Raph have a massive year next year. He needs:
  1. a full pre season
  2. so he can perform to a high standard
  3. to earn some consistent game time
  4. to get more game experience
  5. to be able to make good decisions under pressure
  6. and improve skills to become consistently accurate
As squiz alluded to it remains to be seen, but I'd be very happy to see Raph Clarke's name included in all the "Who was the big improver for Saints in 08" threads.

If not, take him out back & shoot him ;)

He barely played for a full calender year becuase of a debilitating back injury and the games he played this year were played off no fitness base whatsoever and from what i saw in every game he got consistently better, give him a full pre season to see what he can do before writing him off.

An amazing stat that i just read is that Xavier Clarke out of 97 games has picked up more than 20 possesions on 5 occassions, compared to Raphael's 30 games to 4 games above 20 possesions. Obviously stats aren't everything, but you would think the blowtorch should be on Xavier moreso than Raph.

Whilst there is some validity in the X comparison, with him being No 5 in the super draft, he's had some 15 possession games which have been terrific.

But having said that, there are players who can carry injuries better than both of them. A back injury is one of the worst, and might explain some of Raph's marking attempts, but 2008 has to be a huge improvement.

Ill second that!! He will be a very good player for us.You have to understand that most indeginous players take time to develope, in particular taking care of their off field issues.Once that is settled.... watch out for the clarke brothers.

2008 last chance surley though. I'm very happy to give him another year. If he gets injured for half the season again, well unfortunley injury prone players, along with inadequate attitude, aren't big assets.

Lucky the number 8 pick past has saved him. If he was pick 30+ would of been delisted by now.

With the new fitness team, he's going to be a completely different player - and Ross knows it. He pointed out in an interview earlier this year that when he got to the club, Raph could barely walk. I think while many were moaning and groaning about Raph's onfield performances, Ross was just astounded the tough fella was even on the ground at all. That kind of toughness would have earned him a lot of respect.

him and his brother need to get fit. A big pre-season for both is essential.

Some much natural ability for so little return so far from both of them.
