Pretty serious domination.

Hard to find any faults. I'll try to be as negative as possible.
  • Thought ROB was awful, and then he wasn't, won 4 center taps in a row at the start of the 3rd, and we scored from all of them. Killed the game really. Had some great link plays around the ground. Spoiled Worrell, fumbled too much. Hot and Cold.
  • Kicked it sideways to Laird in the pocket a couple of times when... not sure why we did it at all. Laird pretty good though.
  • Curtin not involved enough.
  • We were too far in the lead, so had periods where we went to sleep and the saints kicked 2 or 3 in a row and then we woke up. Could have been a 20 goal victory boys!
  • Dawson absolutely killed it around the ground and missed two easy set shots. Should have had 4!
Rob was great in 2nd half. Good contest in first half with Harry

Outs Curtin sub next week
They won’t drop milera and give him a block of games having committed to him round 1
I don't think anyone can say Laird or Milera should be dropped

A good run of games now for Wayne and hope nobody is a good coach who runs quick players off them both

The new draftees were solid. Peatling probably not a good as expected but others were good. Every player in the team seems to have a strength we're they can beat their opponent. I don't feel like any player is getting carried now.
I thought Peatling added plenty

Don’t expect a silky skilled smooth player he’s a speedy agile work horse that lacks a bit of polish

Ducks for free kicks too much and the umps know about it

Pretty much everyone was good.

In terms of the big positives, Dawson, Rachele and Rankine were all fantastic, the newcomers all played their role, and Thilthorpe looks like someone who could win a Coleman.

On the main question marks:
Milera quiet but did some fairly good things defensively and was clean when he got the ball, his spot wouldn't be in danger. Thought Laird was fine too. Curtin obviously very quiet but was no issue to carry him through the game.

Hard to see much in the way of changes. Main remaining questions are Laird's role, and the 3 tall forward + Curtin thing. Feels like we might be better rotating one of the midfielders into the forward line along with Dawson drifting down there and having Draper in the 22. But they will be highly motivated to try and find Curtin a spot without waiting for injuries.

Walker being subbed out obviously tips that the coaching staff are concerned about the forward-line balance as well. If the game was close it would have been Curtin off.

*Improved coaching
*Better depth ie last 4-5 players. Not far off others
*scores from turnovers
* rankine genius , Soligo , Dawson star , Rachele superb , Thilthorpe and Fog , Worrell and Keane , Laird committed and more team first and played to his strengths , Peatling / Cumming / ANB make a helluva difference

Who had a better kicking game re keays v ANB ?

Opposition was poor with lots of forwards our so a bit of grain of salt until round 4

Ins Draper

A couple years ago they did and Nix used the excuse that they needed to reward him for his attendance record following his serious injuries. But the fact we won't is why we'll not genuinely compete until Nix is gone.

Great win and great to see the boys playing for and the trust in each other..

I feel for the Saints ,some top players currently out of action.

Most telling today, was when you have a cosmic level, deep thinking coach like Ross,
it's going to take the players a bit of time to get a bit trippy and catch up.

Here's an extract from ABC - AFL Preview web page

Saints coach Ross Lyon acknowledged the "formidable" challenge posed by the Crows but dismissed gloomy predictions from pundits about his club's prospects for the season.

"Does the worm turn quickly or slowly? Sometimes it's a bit of both," Lyon said.

Keays - solid game without being spectacular. Hoping he holds last year's standard but drops down the B&F list as other go past him
Crouch - thought he was great. Looks so much better with the guys he now has around him
Curtin - just need to get games in to him. Thought he worked into the game ok and did some nice things.
Thilthorpe - was good but almost great. His ceiling is ridiculous
Rachele - a very good game. Missed a couple of marks, but a great team game. He's maturing.
Murray - underrated game. Just gets the job done.
Dawson - burst out the blocks, got tagged, came back and dominated. Bloke is a jet and should talked up with Bont as the best in the comp
Tex - looked fit and still has something to offer. Liked the option to sub him off
Soligo - this guy is multiple AA quality.
Michelanney - solid game will just get better
Hinge - thought he was fantastic. So underrated
Rankine - with the emergence with others he will only get better
Worrell - thought he was close to BOG. Guy is so good.
Peatling - was ok without being spectacular. Will be better for the run
Neal Bullen - adds so much to this team. Creative and barely wastes a touch
Laird - been a critic but thought he was very good In back half
Milera - average, barely sighted. Nank would have been better.
Fogarty - very good. Just makes the most of his opportunities
Draper - going to be special
Sholl - solid without being spectacular
O'Brien - was pretty good I thought.
Cumming - just smooth and silky
Keane - liked his game

Laird was more than fine today , let’s see if he can keep it up though against better oppo

A step in right direction after last year
