Glad to see Squiggles reverting to Roby status and magnificently overrating the Hawks

I think Squiggles needs to take the beer goggles off and drop Ninthmond a few rungs, to like 17th.

Final Siren I do wonder if the Swans win their next 2, where does Hawthorn end up? Love to have some sort of ladder predictor added to the Squiggles so that we can see what happens round-to-round :sunglasses:

The Squiggle, unlike Roby's "power rankings", is transparent. The ratings are largely determined by match scores. Hawthorn's high ranking is more due to the fact that they are the defending premiers. It takes a while for the Squiggle to "catch up" to current events.

TL;DR the Squiggle isn't head****ed by Hawthorn :p

Damn the cold mathematical genius of the Squiggle, if we can't troll it what's the point?

Heaven forbid you actually have a thoughtful discussion about it... wait, am I on the wrong site?? :p

Too many big words and not one of them was the Squiggle is wrong about my team or that other team I hate.

And no one picked up on me being facetious... Oh the humanity! :confounded:

I choose to take everything I read on BF literally.

That and I wanted to work in a head****ed reference

Why is Geelong set to do so poorly in the Grand Final?

The Bulldogs in a much poorer squiggle position are predicted to get within 4 points of the Hawks in the Prelim, is the squiggle giving the Hawks home field advantage in the GF?

No, but the squiggle uses completely different algorithms for Grand Finals.

Is there any team actually moving TOWARDS the cups?
Do you mean for the year or the round, Because Geelong is making a b-Line straight to the premiership zone so far this season.

I think I read previously that Geelong is counted as a 'state', so you get 'home state' advantage at Kardinia Park and away state disadvantage everywhere else (including the MCG)

No I don't think its that, it had us beating Hawthorn in a Prelim last week only to get blown out by West Coast in the GF.

This is like the 7th time you've tagged in an about a month in this thread. Absence truly makes the heart grow fonder.

Geelong. They just couldn't resist a little detour to take a bite out of the Eagles this week before moving on towards the cups.

Nom nom nom......Eagles taste just like chicken. I wonder how Hawk tastes?

It was a little underdone a when we tried it a few weeks ago and more than we could chew the last few years. Left us constipated.

It uses a different algorithm for the GF. The Flagpole algorithm is used, which rates attacking teams a lot more.

Find it interesting how NMFC are basically back to their original 2016 starting position after doing a big left loop. And yet they are 7-0, with wins against current top 8 sides Crows and Dogs.

Sideways movement for most teams this week, but not Geelong! The Cats had a great week by disposing of West Coast by 44 points and revealing some attacking power in the process. That's enough to edge them out in front of that big pack of flag contenders, to become the #1 team as measured by H&A form. Just.

This puts a bit of a sour note on what should have been a pretty good week for the Hawks, since they did better than most of their rivals, except for Geelong. That's their least favourite one!

Melbourne gained a lot of ground by delivering an away thumping of Gold Coast. After a promising start, the Suns are sliding back to where they started the year. So too North, although their starting position is a lot better. The close wins are suspicious, though. With just a little bad luck, North could be 5-2 or even 4-3 instead of 7-0.

St. Kilda continue to squiggle in a different direction every week. Their 2016 looks like a console cheat code: UP-DOWN-UP-RIGHT-LEFT-UP-RIGHT.

And Sydney just keep getting it done. Their 2016 movement has been slow but it's a pretty good trend.

And Richmond almost had their first positive game of the year! ALMOST. Luckily the bar will soon be so low they won't be able to help tripping over it.

Also the attacking bias of 2016 is still there. Average scores are about 57 Attack and 55 Defence, while this time last year it was the other way around: 55 Attack and 57 Defence.

Ladder Predictor! The Top 8 are still so close it's a bit of a raffle to separate them, although Geelong are getting snug up the top there.

Flagpole! The Cats still have a bit to prove here (although if they keep up current form, that won't take long). That's because historically, teams don't improve from 10th to 1st very often. So this algorithm is still backing teams with a longer history of being able to hand out shellackings.
