Hey everyone

I've had about $800 worth of fines to pay in the last 12 months so thought it mmight be time to invest ina radar detector.

Just wandering if anyone has any tips on which one to get or if anyone has 1 and can give me some info.

Im looking to spend up to about $400 - $500

At the moment www.radars.com.au have the Whistler Radar Detector XTR-690 for $490 less $100 if you pay with cash but yeah wouldnt have a clue if its one of the better ones or its just 1 of the cheaper ones

Thanks for any help

It's impossible to not speed at all

A highway in perth called Canning Highway the speed is set at 60 kmh with on some days 2 speed cameras 15 minutes apart just can't help myself haha

Try to help yourself. It's not that hard to not speed.

How about you just go drive your car into an innocent family and get it over with?

Buy something useful like a Navman for that price; can detect fixed speed cameras/red light cameras.

Oh yeh, you can also set it to beep when you are over a specific speed (but that's one speed limit for all roads).

they dont work mate, bigger waste than speeding fines, just slow down i did and ive stopped getting fines its the only way to stop actually

The majority of speed cameras in WA aren't fixed, they are random.

But yeah don't speed

(he says while looking guilty)

No doubt. I wonder how the OP expected it to go?

probably expected some more help than getting panned from some of the knobs on here. EVERYONE has sped at one time or another, if you say you haven't then you're lying, don't have a license or drive a gopher.
$800 is a fair bit in 12 months, very lucky not to lose the licence there champ.
slow down and get a radar detector. pay what you have to, hope you don't learn the hard way.

how have you not lost your licence yet with 800 bucks worth of fines?

my mate lost his for 2 months plus a fine for doing 100 in a 80 zone after being caught for the first time

by the way how fast have you been going when you've been caught speeding...

He is asking for a way to speed and avoid detection, sure 99% of people have unintentionally sped a few times but when you do you slow down. This guy has no wish to slow down, he just doesn't want to get caught.

FYI I have been driving for 8 years and have been pulled over once. Was only cautioned as it was on a busy road about 3 days after the new 50km laws came in and I was still doing 60.

And when conceding that everyone has sped before I'm talking <10 over the limit and for a few moments. This guy obviously speeds on a regular basis and has no regard for the other users of the road.

I've known people like him before, some that learned the hard way.

You come on here asking how you can avoid detection when you break the law and you get treated like a idiot....think about why.

$800 in fines is really a bit over the top. Slow down.

FWIW Im 19 and have been caught speeding once however it was downhill and unintentional (117 in a 110).

I live in Perth mate and I know that the highways are at times pricks of things (Try the Albany Hwy for one)

Intentional speeding isn't on.

My mate has one that cost him about 700$, has never got a speeding fine since, he drives like a madman, sorry can't remember what's called.

Personally I rarely speed, perhaps the only time I'd use one is on long outback roads in good conditions where you cant safely go 140 in a good car.

Slow down! Easy. You might just save your life/family/friends/some poor innocent victim. How about volunteering for your local SES/CFA unit and seeing firsthand the results of crap driving!

If you drink, speed or drug drive your a total idiot.

To actually answer your question don't bother buying a radar, it will work for a while but the coppers have radar radars that are always updating that can detect your radar detector. Then if they catch you with that then your further up sh!t creek.
