raines' disposal is disgusting

this needs to be adressed immediately, i honestly believe this kid could be a star once he learns how to use the ball.

Have to agree with you, he and Shane Tuck for that matter have taken a step back and it's very hard to work out why.Given the fact that they both seem to be players headed for big seasons this year.

what else do you want from 5th round picks?

they both relied on a bit of heart and guts early on but when that wears off the class comes out but both blokes seem to have none of it

It's not raines fault that there is no one to kick to so he is forced to run around in circles and pressure himself. Blame the players on the wings for leading way too early. Just watch our kick ins. Firstly we could form a tighter huddle and time our leads better. But our next kick after the first mark is what we need to work on. By the time the first mark has been taken from the kick in, his options are all manned up and too scattered while some are too close to the boundary. It's obvious the players up the ground have led too early to the wings and by the time the ball is kicked to them they are on the boundary with no where else to run and their opponent has caught up to them. So all the options are taken so we have to chip the ball sideways etc. This gives the opposition time to flood the forward line because we take too long to get there. This is all because we lead too early from the spine to the wings after the first kick in has been marked. Gotta get our game plan on track to eliminate side chipping and skill errors coming out of defence

there is definetely an element of truth to what you say madtiger, but on saturday night i watched him fluff many simple disposals. last year his disposal was a helluva lot better.

we really need to get our midfielders to think smart at the kick ins. We pretty much need to form 2 huddles. One at 50m arc consisting of 5 defenders and a ruckman plus their opponents. Once the ball is marked, then the 2nd huddle in the centre circle should make their leads. It would make a huge difference

i completely agree. our gameplan in this area is non existant and our apparent 'brilliance' at going coast to coast is more just dumb luck than anything else.
i think TW has the wrong gameplan (if he has one) for where this group is at skillswise.

my honest opinion abouit raines is that he is totally out of form and his confidence is shot. if anyone should be having a run with coburg it should be raines.his decision making and disposal has been pathetic.dont blame game plans for this.he is paid good money to perform at the highest level,if he cant make the right decisions and hit targets he should'nt be here.

Spot on. His disposal has always been this bad but we ignored it when he burst onto the scene last year. It was a matter of 'wow he got 22 possies what a gun! Runs the lines perfectly!"

Andrew Raines is a dud.

He's just plain crap, he is the type of player who will cost us many games in the future if we don't trade him before it's too late.

Tivendale makes less mistakes than Raines.

Either learn how to kick or learn how to use jobseek.com because I've had enough of Richmond players who have no skills and make poor decisions.

Gotta disagree with you on Raines he is not a dud as he clearly showed us last year. Duds are Knobel, Krakouer I would put Raines well above them. Yes his kicking has let him down this year and has turned the ball over. He is only going from the examples our captain is doing as he is leading the way and teaching the kids well.

He can find the ball but when he does the other team's eyes light up and they prepare to attack.

Maybe he's not a dud but he is still pretty crap. I curse at him more than I do at Tivendale for stuffing up that's for sure. And Tiv makes up for it with the occassional brilliant passes where Raines backs it up by canon-balling into standing players to drop the ball.

He seems to have ordinary peripheral vision and doesn't have a penetrating kick. The margin for error is minute when it comes to Raines' disposal, his best kicks look good but anything less than his best is bordering on suburban level. Unfortunately this is the norm, not the exception.

atleast raines has a bit of balls and tiger blood

tivendale and krakouer can **** off!

His disposal's not good - but don't tell anyone in the media...he's a 'top small defender.'

HBF's need to have great disposal skills as well as the ability to run, carry and break lines.

Raines has heart and some ability, but he has a long way to go before he meets the above criteria.

I seriously seriously hate all of you. You dont deserve to call your selves richmond supporters. No wonder we are copping so much flak. look at your selves.
Please just grow up!

Sheez! Haven't you all turned. Last year he was the best thing since sliced bread according to this board. This year he's a dud.

Two options......

Either this year's version of Andrew Raines is the real one and last year's was a one -off.

Or he's suffering a temporary loss of confidence and needs a run in the twos to get himself back to form.

****ed if I know which one will be proved correct. But I like kid and hope he comes good.

There is one side of his game that has improved this year which is 1 on 1 spoiling.

He looks exactly like Darren Gaspar the way he does it :thumbsu:

It's good to see Gaspar passing on the part of his game that made him a dual AA FB, a few of our young defenders have spoken highly of Darren's advice.

The bad news is that Gaspar forgot to try and improve Andrew's kicking!

He would have almost doubled Rainsey's skill level!

The way Raines kicks, you would probably find Gasper did tell him how to kick:thumbsd:...not the Gas's strongest area
