The term technocracy was originally used to advocate the application of the scientific method to solving social problems. Concern could be given to sustainability within the resource base, instead of monetary profitability, so as to ensure continued operation of all social-industrial functions. In its most extreme sense technocracy is an entire government running as a technical or engineering problem and is mostly hypothetical. In more practical use, technocracy is any portion of a bureaucracy that is run by technologists. A government in which elected officials appoint experts and professionals to administer individual government functions and recommend legislation can be considered technocratic.[3][4] Some uses of the word refer to a form of meritocracy, where the ablest are in charge, ostensibly without the influence of special interest groups.[5] Critics have suggested that a "technocratic divide" challenges more participatory models of democracy, describing these divides as "efficacy gaps that persist between governing bodies employing technocratic principles and members of the general public aiming to contribute to government decision making."[6]

Is Lebanon non secular?
Muslim/Christian country. When the French/Uk split the Middle East under the Sykes-Picot agreement, they created Lebanon to be a fully Christian State. After the 1975-1990 civil war, the parliament has been split on sectarian lines, that being, the President must be a Christian while the PM must be Sunni Muslim. Along with that you have multiple other religious groups (Shiites, Druze, other Catholic/ Christian groups) all wanting a say.

The people have basically had enough of this (as per the video I posted a few pages back).

It is in fact the underlying phenomenon of how society functions, but it generally tends to get warped by the parasite classes along the way.

And the descent into fascism is complete.

One of your friends boys.

Get in line for your brownshirts.

The police have behaved terribly

That's what they do - protect the interests of established power and money.

They rely on people being distracted by culture war issues created to divide the working class (all of us these days) because if we did actually unite, history shows there's just not enough cops.

And you don't even need to fight them - peaceful protest wins if there's enough of you.

Can’t tell me any technocratic government won’t have Sergey and Larry at the forefront.. it’ll probably be quiet successful until they realise it’s a complete fascist state.

Grouse, a government run by ****ing scientists.

Luckily it would fall to shit within weeks.

A series of longtime grievances - including corruption, high unemployment, lack of services and a national debt of $86bn - and recent proposed tax increases have pushed hundreds of thousands of Lebanese to protest across the country.

They have demanded reforms and an uprooting of the entire political class, which is accused of using Lebanon's fractured confessional political system of dividing the Lebanese.

The tiny Mediterranean country has a reputation of having a society divided along sectarian faultlines, though as the protests have shown, all Lebanese are united in suffering under the same leadership.

Depends on how much money they dump into it..

my guess itll end up looking like googleplex complete with meals, lodgings and a social credit score.

A police state to begin with is what it would be.

Recall a "technocratic government" is actually a US demand.

Aimed at getting rid of Hezbollah.

Not because a "technocratic government" is a good idea.

If it was the US would have one.

Pompeo comes out with this and a few days later, Trump withholds a $105m security package. The pressure is on.

Prompted by weeks of popular protests, Lebanon's President Michel Aoun called Thursday for the establishment of a technocratic government and an end to the country's custom of allocating political offices along religious lines.

Currently, the prime minister must be a Sunni while the president must be a Maronite Christian and the speaker of parliament a Shiite, according to an unwritten power-sharing deal established in 1943 known as the National Pact.

Aoun pledged to move away from the sectarian-based political system to a civil state,
calling sectarianism a "destructive disease".

Saad Hariri is ready to return as prime minister of a new Lebanese government, a senior official familiar with his thinking said on Wednesday, on condition it includes technocrats and can quickly implement reforms to stave off economic collapse.

Was he a US puppet?
Influenced moreso. No way he can be the trailblazer the country needs.
Oh God these idiots honestly think they can dislodge Hezbollah.
Exactly. No chance.

Hezballah is more popular with the Christians than it is with the Shiite.

The first line of defence to Israel is Hezballah and as long as the IDF is around nothing will change.

Israel’s military dominates the sky and the sea, backed by the US. In terms of land combat though they would have the floor wiped with them in weeks.
