Latham nails it.

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden's suggestion that coal miners should "learn to program".... I wonder if we’ve got any Pollies who’d have the balls to say it..

My view is that coal won't get phased out until solar is definitely cheaper and just as reliable, or nuclear energy is implemented.

Chemical engineers will also work out the coal pollution factors. They are on the verge of doing it now.

Honestly didn’t think that was much of an issue now with battery tech.

Correct me if I’m wrong but i thought the production of steel was always the sticking point with non coal use. its needed in the smelter. But any solution was about 20 years away.

A nuclear reactor can smelt a shitload of steel.

The solution is a race between economics and science.

State and Federal govt should pump money into science, not meaningless stadium upgrades by a city full of backward residents that don't have anything better to do than go to the football.

I really hate those campaigners just as much as *.

I like the idea, nuclear reactors at manufacturing plants.. what could possible go wrong.

No, state owned & controlled with power sold on to manufacturers.

A reactor for a single plant would be shizen industrial planning.

I think that’s the biggest problem with society.. the government aren’t going to do shit.. the people need to, if someone works in finance, I’d love them to set up a super company that only invests in tech, engineering and scientific research.

I have reported a series of papers on the SR&P board, so I figure folks who don't read there haven't a suitable overview of my position, but the solutions are in reach already:

CO2 to CH3OH: https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-019-03563-8
SO2 to NaHSO3: https://www.researchgate.net/public...m_flue_gases_using_the_method_of_Wellman-Lord
N2O to NH3: https://www.ocinitrogen.com/ammonia/EN/Pages/Cleaner-coal-plants-by-de-NOx.aspx

This isn't some apocalyptic dead end.

Their only interest is in herding the sheep via manufactured boogey men.

I'll look for it later but im pretty sure Hostplus has an option like what you are looking for

Of course, but if an intelligent charismatic person came along now, that truly resonated with the common person, then I suspect there would be a political earthquake in this country. I just can't see how such a person could arise from the Libs or ALP in their current format.

Politics has tended to be a hive for mediocrity, and it's currently as bad right now as I can ever remember.

There is the argument, Snake, that a hive of mediocrity is as good as things can be. The trouble with the charismatic leader is that it invariably ends in flames. Politics needs to be boring even though it flies in the face of every gut feeling. It’s crap, I know, and I’ll never really subscribe to the idea.
