“Round here we’ve been trying to do hazard reductions all year, it’s either too wet, or too hot and dry and they get away from us.

“Yes we need to do more fuel reduction burns, if only we had the window like we used to.”

Pretty much my understanding as well. the requirements were tightened up after a few "assets" were lost during backburning operations. , meanwhile the current conditions haven't provided much opportunity that fits in the revised framework.

Well, as in "that stuff I've been saying about him, probably wasn't all warranted..."
dont worry mate, i think your in pretty good company re some of the comments that have been made in the last week. :thumbsu: and not just on this board, facebook has been a cess pool and the mainstream media have hardly been setting an example.

So an American singer donated $500,000 at roughly the same time as the Libs released an ad they've made about the relief efforts.

Not helping themselves at all.
The liberal media team has had a shocker since the Hawaii stuff. I get the need to communicate what they are doing to the public, but surely there was a better way to communicate what they needed to.

Half a million is nothing to most celebs.

Nah, that thread contains facts about our government letting us down

Goverment? Not plural?

Andrews appear to be immune at present, and he's poured enough concrete on the state to raise world temps by 1C all on his own.

I estimate in the past decade this family has contributed $800 in tickets and merch to said entertainer nttawwt

You mean the bunch of articles posted from the bastion of journalistic non-partisanship that is the ABC.

Let me point out a few of her, umm, points:
- It isn’t up to the federal government to buy tankers, it’s a state responsibility. The federals can choose to supplement equipment by buying emergency equipment.
- I have addressed the mythical cuts, which your friend’s article convienently left out the parts where funding on previous years were at record highs. The NSW RFS commissioner supports me on this point.
- Tas govt asked for federal assistance and got it, albeit delayed. Fair enough criticism.
- The climate change inaction: As I said, cutting Australia’s 1.5% of global emissions would not have made a difference to current conditions.
- Using Centrelink for assistance payments, I don’t see the problem.
- The refusal of foreign volunteers isn’t a federal responsibility, it’s a state one. As far as I know, the states ok-Ed foreign volunteers a while back.

Honestly, the article I posted earlier address these points fairly well.

I keep reading your posts about his concrete footprint

I suppose the trade off is creating a better public transport network that reduces the need for cars in a modern city, and the roadworks are aiming to reduce road congestion in the future to also reduce emissions until we have a fleet of hybrid/electric cars

I don’t know what the modelling of concrete generation v the infrastructure benefits are? Do you?

It generates a shitload of CO2 Gaso.

Every cubic meter of concrete = ~860Kgs CO2, and that's just the manufacturing cost of the blending..

- Using Centrelink for assistance payments, really whinging about that? Liberals are about promoting greater efficiency with welfare payments, but they aren’t always successful.

Sure it’s a state responsibility, but it makes it pretty tough when the federal government slashes the budget.

I’ll just post some of the facts.

The Morrison Government ignored expert advice, that's been rolling in since April 2019, saying they would need specialist equipment, including water-bombers, to fight off unprecedented bushfires this season.

As part of their '$3.5 billion shake up' to the public sector, the Liberal State Government CUT $12.9 million from Fire & Rescue NSW, plus $26.7 million from the volunteers (Office of NSW Rural Fire Services).

During the 2018-2019 bushfire season, the premiere of Tasmania had to beg the Federal Government for extra assistance because federal funding (the NDRRA) doesn't support protection or relief for World Heritage Listed areas, or non-populated sites.

That relief funding Tasmania begged for? It never came. Morrison has a long history of promising relief funding for disaster efforts, and then deferring that funding to a later date - Delaying recovery efforts and making communities even more vulnerable.

While experts warned federal governments about the impacts of climate change denial, deforestation, and the impending bushfires, Environment Minister Susan Ley invested her energy into getting Adani across the line and feral cats. I'm not joking.

Most bushfire disaster relief payments are made through Centrelink, as well as some RFS volunteer funds. The same Centrelink the Coalition has made a sport of stripping funding from for years. The Centrelink that Morrison targets again and again.

Thanks to their "$3.2 billion dollar shake up" to the public sector, the Liberal State Government CUT $12.9 million from NSW Fire and Rescue, and $26.7 million from the NSW volunteer fire service (Office of NSW Rural Fire Services).
