looks like "Australias driving future" is about to befome "Australias driving past"

looks like simply rebadging Opels isnt a sustainable model.

including 600 Melbourne workers focused on designing cars for the Australian market.
Thats a lot of people to redesign an insignia!

Doh! I Didn’t miss anything. It was just a bit of a laugh.

Yay, let's all laugh at the young person working retail for low pay.

They're objects of amusement for boomers like you.

Nah I've worked in retail my entire life. Pay is hardly unreasonable and if you earnestly try to sell a multi-buy that offers 0% discount it's pretty funny.

Really? You're going the bleeding heart for kids who work in retail?

Working retail for not much pay is something that's been a rite of passage for many thousands of successful adults in the past century or so.

Any budding or bona fide artists should mock up a couple of images for the banners on this board. Would be cool to have a couple of iconic images rather than...nothing

Either that or an animation of a runaway elephant.

OK boomers, retail is a a grouse thriving industry and the staff are ripe for humiliation for our amusement.

Why, I worked in retail in 1986 and it was amazing!

Seems like a great industry for young people to begin their working life. Not sure what your problem is.

He just gets like this sometimes.

We probably need another board candidate to start a new thread to get his cylinders firing again.

We finally get a couple of days peace on the board and we end up with a generation war about people making a relatively good living wage in a relatively safe environment?

Puzzling reaction to an amusing story about a kid inappropriately continuing to push a "deal" that wasn't a deal.

Oh, I get it now - it's because Karen was going to report the kid to management unless the "deal" was persistently pushed beyond the point where both kid and customer acknowledged it as ridiculous.

Grrr, we must rally against Big Brother in the form of Karens. Grrr, what an oppressive world we live in where kids are so terrified of being thrown out of their after-school pocket money job that they keep pushing non-deals.

I've noticed this a bit, and I'm becoming increasingly convinced of it.

There is a subset of Gen Y that is scared of being mocked by millenials.

So they seek to highlight whatever gap they can establish between themselves and Gen X. This jumping on the Karen movement is a perfect example.

100%.

I would have loved to begin my career in retail, instead I was cooking chickens at Nandos over a hot BBQ until 1am earning $6.92 per hour.

Standing around lying about how good someone looks in a pair of jeans would have been bliss.

Safe?

Nah.

Retail and food workers are facing rape and death threats, threats with a weapon, sexual harassment and physical abuse from some customers.

Industry giants — including Coles, Woolworths, Kmart and Target — have now banded together pledging to eradicate what the retail union has called a “customer abuse epidemic”.

The reporting of abuse will be encouraged and aggressive customers could be banned by stores being urged to adopt a zero tolerance of attacks on staff.

KFC, Hungry Jacks, Myer and Bunnings are among the other companies to have also signed the industry pledge, which was unveiled by the Shop Distributive and Allied Employees Association in Sydney on Monday.

A survey of more than 1000 workers by the SDA in December last year showed 87 per cent of respondents had experienced verbal abuse or aggressive behaviour.

Good living wage?

Nah.

Woolworths, Coles, Sunglass Hut, Dominos, 7/11 - just a start on joints ripping off their staff.

It would be if staff were treated with respect and paid properly, which they aren't.

Yeah, I get you're auditioning for a spot in Tef's gang of proto-brownshirts, but jeez, it isn't like I've suddenly made up this thing that retail staff get treated like shit and underpaid here.

Anyway I've worked in retail since 1988 and never left. Trust me that the poor starving girl that was accosted relentlessly and mercilessly by gokangas is probably going to be ok.

Companies ****ing up payment of wages does not make it a low paying industry either.

Ask an apprentice sparky how underpaid and unsafe she thinks retail workers are.

Went back today to buy another pack. Same girl, same price. She remembered me from yesterday. We exchanged smiles and thank yous. She didn’t seem too damaged from my questioning yesterday of the 1 for $15 or the special 2 for $30.

Which begs the question: why didn't you buy 2 for $30 yesterday?

Fair question and one I am sure she was tempted to ask me. Wanted to make sure they fitted and I liked them before doubling up.

Did you go back to buy another pair of socks?

All GK needs to do is post a video of himself apologising to the young lady and it'll all be sweet again.
That cheeky zurhaar grin on your photo is perfect. I imagine his voice speaking when you post.

But true! GK must return to that sock shop again and apologise to the young lady, while filming it for bigfooty. That is the only way the screaming masses can be appeased.
