Note the shift in Australian defence jargon over the last 5 or so years. Plan Jericho (RAAF) and the 2020 strategic update makes it clear that we see ourselves as a space power.Well so they say....
Why wouldn't you just use satellite based kinetic weapons anyway? As if they aren't deployed already.

Air Marshal Mel Hupfeld, AO, DSC was appointed Chief of Air Force in July 2019. He has outlined his intentions for the Air Force during his tenure.
Over the next ten years
The total ten-year defence budget was $575 billion and contained an increase from $195 billion to $270 billion in new capabilities.[1] Funding streams were also refined into five operational domains including “Information and Cyber, Maritime, Air, Space, and Land, supported by the critical enabling capabilities of the Defence Enterprise”.[2] Information and Cyber was expected to obtain $15 billion over ten years, Air $65 billion, Space $7 billion, Land $55 billion and $15 billion for enterprise enabling capabilities like resupply.[3]
