Anyone try this stuff?

Made in Gippsland and was voted best blue cheese in the world at an event in Wisconsin.

Never tasted blue cheese before and am anything but a cheese connoisseur but bought a slice and it was pretty horrible. Tried it in a burger (stuffed the patty with the cheese) but it had a strange, almost metallic taste. Nothing appealing at all.

Perhaps I would have faired better starting with a more mild blue as I'm guessing it's a bit of an acquired taste but that's the best the world has to offer?

Hopefully I'll enjoy the block of gruyere in the fridge more than I did the blue. Had a bit to taste and it wasn't half bad. Might try a onion soup.

A milder blue is certainly a better bet if you are just getting into it. Stronger blue's do tend to have that metallic flavour - something you either dig or don't. First one I tried as a youngster was known as Blue Vein. Embarrassing name aside it tasted like heavy metal fungus.

Am curious on mod powers


The ability to delete a post, or poster from a board, seems discriminate based on the mod's particular subjective persuasion


Was just wondering whether mods should invent a guide book - if not already done so - expanding and limiting their powers. As a starting point it could be done not in a Mein Kampf dictatorial way (although his verse was all over the shop, Hitler was specific in his hatred), but more in a UN Charter way, kind of guidelines that should / could be followed but aren't always

A blue for mine calls for a lighter style Sauternes like a Barsac or late-picked Riesling - Watervale possibly.

Hopefully I have a nice night's sleep after watching PA2 tonight but I doubt it. Not that scary but I hate horror, mostly because I know I'll freak myself out for days to come. Psychological horror most of all but the supernatural stuff gets me too.

Nevermind. Had a beautiful, if dream interrupted (nothing scary) sleep. Went to bed sick (don't ride your bike in the morning without having breakfast before hand) but won't up refreshed.
