From memory Lakes have regulated for transportable only homes at coastal fringe/sea level. They know change is coming.

My parents have a house they inherited at McLoughlans beach, backing onto a low level mangrove swamp and they recently extended it.
They had to go split level, as the Council required all new extensions and buildings to have certain foundations and height from sea level.

Water sometimes reaches the back yard. Always has. Like maybe once a year. Not enough to kill the grass.
The highest we remember is when it was under the house one year in the 70s and your feet got wet at the doorstep. Though i don't really remember it.

So we have a granny flat where they installed an overhead hood in the kitchen when they built it.
The hood has a fan, which takes cooking fumes from the stove top and blows it above the cupboard.
Hooray the fat is spread around everywhere.

Is there anything they build into a house, unit , flat , or apartment that is more useless than this? Though i suppose the light may have some slight use.

That even if we acknowledge that there's a climate calamity, we're not forgoing anything for it."

Drought Crisis Worsens: Federal Government Bans Bushfires In Desperate Bid To Save Water

In an unprecedented move, bushfires have been totally outlawed in an attempt to reduce the drain on the nation’s water supply.

Under the latest rules, no new bushfires are to be lit without a permit, and all existing bushfires must be fully extinguished by midnight on December 31.

Any property owner who also owns one or more bushfires must fully extinguish all fires before the deadline or face fines of $150 per burning hectare. Property owners who require an extension of up to 20 days past the deadline must apply for a Conflagration Permit at their nearest Post Office.

“This is totally irresponsible” said clearly unimpressed NSW RFS Acting Commissioner Rob Rogers.

“Simply banning the bushfire industry overnight with no clear path to alternative employment leaves thousands of hardworking volunteer firies with an uncertain future, and to do it right before Christmas is a real kick in the guts”.

However, David Littleproud, Member for Water Resources, says using precious water on fires during times of drought is wasteful and extravagant whereas simply banning bushfires altogether will save millions of litres of water for struggling farmers.

“We have reached a point where our current usage of water is reaching unsustainable levels, so banning all bushfires is the only way to bring it under control in the short term. Once this mysterious climate change thing pisses off, maybe then we’ll be able to spare enough water to afford the luxury of bushfires.”

I'm all for renewable resources but the way her group go about it is never going to win.

Best thing they can do is just get on with it in smaller scale case studies. Outfit a town with solar/wind/hydro and show it can be done. Then find a bigger place and do it there. Then again, and again, and again.

Australians are more than happy to do it but the reasoning needs to be right. Screaming about the apocalypse gets people changing the channel. Talk to the average Aussie about cutting their power bill in half though and all of a sudden things are different because the idea is perfectly sound.

The way Team Greta go about trying to get people on board though is lunacy.

As we are seeing across the world, it's turning more and more people off from left wing thinking because people hate being told what to do. Much better to let them think they are getting the advantage directly vs 'Save the World' altruism that reads as over the top preaching.
