See that’s the thing. People compare it to other countries. Why Wouldn’t you compare it to other states in your country. Maybe people don’t like the answers. And haha to the other guy.

I guess I'm just happy that it looks to be nearly over and we've come out of it relatively unscathed. People make mistakes like letting the cruise ships in when they had Covid abord. Each time other states and countries learned from those.

When you get an outbreak and decent numbers it starts to run like wild fire. I'm pretty impressed by the way most people did the right thing and we got through it. Aged care still copped the brunt of it which is sad for the families who lost people but compared to massive community transmission we were extraordinarily lucky.

You can look at it like we are incompetent or you can compare it to other places in the world where once it took hold it went right through the place and still isn't contained. Comparing Victoria a cold temperate place with a large population to Queensland is pretty pointless any way.

One of my wife's friends died and we had an on line funeral for her. She had brain cancer and was incredibly grateful for everything even after all the shit that happened over the last year and right up to the end, she held out and died on her birthday surrounded by her sister, boyfriend, mum and daughter at home. I'm trying to not be a miserable campaigner any more, she was less of a whinger than me and she had real things to complain about.

Pretty sure the temperature had nothing to do with how the second wave started. Based on that tassy would be a nut case state. And it’s always sad when anyone dies. It’s even sadder you can’t get together and celebrate your life. And if you compare anything to death you would never complain but I’m not sure people think like that. If we did we would never complain about a selection of a player in the draft or in a team. Each to their own about how they handle this covid thing but if you live on your own and can’t even see friends let alone your daughter or parents that could go at any moment and can’t do a safe job for a number of weeks I’m not so sure I can just say so be it, at least I’m alive. At least I’m back at work from tomorrow.

Agree with what you say in most parts, yes we all make mistakes
I dont care who you vote for Liberal or Labor, but our governments have responsibilities and its not acceptable for high ranking public servants and politicians to have amnesia like they have for what they are responsible for in the middle of this disaster. We as voters should expect and demand a whole lot better than what we have be given lately

It sounds like it came from the cops and for some reason they won't name them.

I’m sure population density matters though and that’s where Melbourne is at a big disadvantage.
I’m also guessing that being outside in the air is also safer than being indoors. Certainly was for the Spanish flu

They are saying they expect bigger spikes in cold weather as autumn kicks in other countries so there must be some reason for that. Perhaps the aerosol particles die quicker in warm weather.

UV rays cause it to die faster if its on an outside surface.
Generally an outside environment is worse for its survival than an indoor environment. ( yeah actually unlikely to get it on Bondi. Wonder if salt kills it ).
People generally have more windows open and ventilation during summer.
When the air is humid it absorbs less "spray" . If you spray a fine mist into air at 98% humidity, it mostly drops to the ground. (a by product of the air conditioning used in meat works, is that the humidity is taken out of the air ).

On the salt thing, it's because the salt has other properties, such as magnesium, zinc, calcium, potassium and other "benefits" to it that the body absorbs, since ingesting or otherwise obtaining them is poor normally. So the body then goes "I have these things, so I can do better" and it moves to improve things. Of course if you're dumping table salt in the bath for example you're doing it wrong, but we used bath salts when my eczema flared when young, sure, had to use a shit coloured cream to close the wound first, but it's why for nigh on 30 years I've been able to get away with lip balm only and randomly wiping away "dead" skin instead of say having baths only in basically medication like a kid that was worse off than me.

It just promotes the body to not be as much of a dick in promoting the defects. Sure, it's there always, but even 5-10 seconds or 1-2% difference can be and is massive in such things. Also depends on the water temp, so don't expect me at any VIC "beaches".

Anyone a wiz with excel? CursingFijian you may know - in saying that though I don't think there's a quicker way around it.

Trying to remove the gibberish after the email addresses but do it in a quicker way because I've got 1600 to get through haha.

As an example;

It's not just a simple find and replace because the gibberish is all unique.

I would think the quickest method would be;

- Highlight the column
- Click “Data” ribbon up top
- Click “text to column”
- Click “delimited”
- Click “other” and type “?” In the box adjacent
- Click “Finish”

Should be good then

Hmm, thanks mate. I did that and it got rid of a large chunk of the crap but still a bit leftover;

Hi George,

Sorry mate I'm on holiday and don't have any devices with Excel on them at the moment so can't be of much help straight away.
All good mate I am trawling through them one by one, have until Thursday so will be no problem. Thanks anyway!

Can always go into a blank column, function -> substitute.
Select the first cell you want to change
"remove what you want in quotes" in old text
Just "" in new text as blank output of whatever is remaining
Click OK.

That should then result in whatever you then tried to remove in "old text" so the cell you chose, to the new column, minus that text.

If you're happy with the output then just double click the "drag" bracket wen you highlight the right cell you want and it'll autofill the column.

Ok. It’s anything but quarantine mismanagement.

Quarantine was mismanaged.
But that only caused a few infections.
It was Victorians who were blatantly disregarding the rules that caused it to take off like it did.

If you were meant to mow a fire break between your house and the bush, you didn't and then little johnny was playing with matches. Yeah he lit it , but if you'd mowed that fire break your house might not have burnt down.

Oh , what happened ,
Too many to name. He made a disgustingly racist rant at a poster on here and got warned for it. He sent death threats to another poster on here, and then when that poster told me about it and I banned him, he sent death threats and police threats to me.

He may have come across differently in open forum but he is easily the most unhinged poster we had on here. We're better off that he is gone.

It may not just have been the Hotel mismanagement but let me tell you the brands involved in the Hotel crap have copped it big time , its had a serious effect and it wasn't even their fault
