Re: Round 1 team

Yup... so you guys have obviously had a very good pre-season, and despite likely missing Fisher for a month or so and Hayes being under a bit of an injury cloud, you're looking very strong for round 1. The Swans aren't exactly a team with a glut of power forwards, but Goodes can be very difficult to match up on. A small bonus for you is that you only face one top-four team from last year in the period in which Fisher is likely to miss, and the Bulldogs are the following "big" clash in round 6.

I know the NAB Cup game against the Swans was especially tight, but I'm not convinced it will be so close in the real thing. I'm guessing a lot of cards were played close to the chest on that occasion. How do you see your team structuring up as compared with the NAB Cup clash against the Swans?

Re: Round 1 team

^^^^ Koschitzke wouldn't rate in the top 30 forwards in the league. I feel you guys may have missed the boat in terms of a premiership and are a little defensive when criticised. If you are not concerned with what I am saying then why bother responding at all. I am just offering an opinion and feel there are a few cracks starting to appear in your side. Cheers!

Firstly, If you want to be a flog and criticise our team, do it on the bloody bay!!
Secondly, I can most definetly say that I would MUCH rather Kosi than either or both of those spuds you call Cloke and Anthony.
Thirdly, considering we have only 3 players over the age of 30 as well as depth and a large number of rising stars (see: Stanley, Walsh, McEvoy, Geary, Steven and a helluva lot more), on what are you basing this whole "missed the boat" theory on?
Forthly, no, we couldn't give any less of a shit about what you have to say, so now you know this, please don't continue posting your drivel
Fifthly, any team with Leroy Brown in CHB shouldn't criticise any defence anywhere at anytime.
Thank you, kind flog,
Please never return to or post on this board ever again
cheers

Re: Round 1 team

Haha Kosi and Milne easily outscored Collingwoods best two goalkickers last year. So if our forward line is shaky Collingwoods is a mess.
I feel sorry for Darren Jolly, he will be expected to tap out to Ball, then run to the forward line in time to mark and goal.

lol if jolly tapped it to ball at least he would only have to run 20m ahead of ball to mark the kick :)

Collingwoooooooooooood never cease to give us new material :

A number of special, signed guernseys are out there in the community carrying a rather unfortunate blooper - Collingwood has been misspelt Collingwoood.

Despite being signed by coach Mick Malthouse, former captain Nathan Buckley and captain Nick Maxwell, it appeared no one noticed.

President Eddie McGuire even had a picture of the offending logo projected behind him as he spoke on the podium.

Expecting a Collingwood player to pick up a spelling mistake would be like expecting my 9 year old to notice that Pi expressed as 3.14159265358979323846264338327 should really have the last digit rounded up.

Or be expressed as a tasty foodstuff!

Re: Round 1 team

Honestly, and as a former Collingwood board mod, I think we'd allow that. More than likely a few Pies posters would tell them to piss off, but I don't think the mods would intervene if they'd been in some way constructive. We're pretty bloody laissez-faire on the Pies board, as copping criticism from all quarters is very much part of barracking for the Magpies.

So where is this so called board that I can freely offer my "constructive" criticisms of Collingwoods major faults, that none one waiting at the collingwood centrelink office seem to be aware of?

Firstly, lack of a forward line? Its like they spent all their super coach money on the coaching staff and picked the team for under 100K. Do you even have a forward line? Or could you not find positions for them?

How about their failed attempt at getting some experienced players? Ball - bad OP and will be game time restricted come season proper and Jolly, who may get first touch but has no one to give it to. With no draft for the next couple of years, your experience player picks with need to be better than Bally. Yes the saints picked lovett. But 1 bad egg out of the last 4 years pretty freakin sweet. Gardner, king, schnieder, dawson, ray.

And your teams golden child dale "dasiy chain" thomas, is so weak the any of the players Melbourne phoenix netball could arm wrestle him to the ground. Someone please buy him a bag of cement for his birthday!

All constructive and if you could kindly direct to the place in collingwood land that will take this on board, that would be greatly appreciated.

yeah, theyre full of shit saying that most of them would take constructive criticisms, thats common knowledge
hopefully any further trolling efforts will incur a yellow card for them

I always liked the 'definition' of insanity as "doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different result".

But after the efforts of you lot, I think it should change to "dealing with morons, and expecting reasoned and logical responses"!

I wonder what this guy will be able to do after he graduates from kindergarten.

Well, he's more advanced than the Colllingwooooood marketing department (at least he can spell, and if he's young may not have lost any teeth yet or knocked a relative up).

Eddie McGuire feels slighted that Tommy Walsh decides to go to St Kilda and goes on a worldwide recruitment drive, with no part of the world being left untouched.

In Iran he finds an 18 year old 208cm athlete who has fantastic hand-eye co-ordination.

Eddie figures he’s worth taking back to Melbourne to retrain as a centre half forward.

The kid does the pre-season and takes to the game like a fish to water, training hard and improving with each practice session.

He is eventually named on the bench in an interstate game. Halfway through the last quarter the Pies are 38 points down and gone. Eddie goes to Malthouse and begs him to give the kid a go. Mick shrugs, he’s got nothing to lose.

7 goals in the last 10 minutes and the kid is chaired from the ground, a hero.

After it all settles down he decides to make a long distance call to his mother to tell her the good news.

“That’s wonderful Ahmed” she replies, “although my day hasn’t been quite as good as yours. Firstly your father was assaulted coming back from work by a group of fanatics, your younger sister was r*ped on her way to the Mosque, and I was mugged for the family's shopping money”.

“Oh mum” Ahmed says with tears coming down his face, “I wish Mr McGuire never bought the family to live with me in Collingwood”.

So I just had to go over to the SFSC (Sunbury Football Social Club) and was met with a nice surprise;

The RSA (Responsible Serving of Alcohol) I sat on March 16th actually sent out the certificates today, so I can now legally serve the stuff. HUZZAH! Drinks on me!

Re: Matt Maguire

I've got to know Holden, what's with the fantastic spelt with a ph? You spell every other word correctly so there must be another reason, interested to hear it.

Re: Matt Maguire

You're right - I never even thought about this... :o

But rather than doing a Malthouse by trying to excuse this as a typo, I guess that I have just provided further proof that English is not my first language...

Kidole kimoja hakivunji chawa.

Well that's a bit rude - you're not a Collingwoood supporter you know.

Not sure what getting lice has to do with it though.

fimbo yake juu yenu, Holden!

Just to clarify things.

Kidole kimoja hakivunji chawa (directly translated as something like one finger cannot kill the lice) is a Swahili proverb expressing the importance of co-operation and and loyalty as a team - which is the closest I could get to fortius quo fidelius.

Your quote appears to be more of a direct translation of an English proverb...

Apologies for my previous note saying "stick it up ya!"

Re: Matt Maguire

nguvu kwa uaminifu doesn't do it for you?

Fair enough - but why make it easy if I can complicate things ?

Apologies for my previous note saying "stick it up ya!"

HoldenMCaulfield accepts the apology that has been made by Squizzy1970 and acknowledges that his comments to Squizzy were potentially misleading and inappropriate... :o

But I hope that you will agree that my English is good enough to avoid a further use of Swahili ?
