Analysis Random NORTH thoughts not worthy of a thread

Posted in here a while ago about how you can predict ~70% of Brownlow top 10s with a simple algorithm. Here is it for the first 5 rounds of the season. As you can see, Higgins is in the top 10:

1. Mitchell, Tom: 213.5
2. Lyons, Jarryd: 124.0625
3. Gibbs, Bryce: 107.5625
4. Cripps, Patrick: 95.875
5. Sidebottom, Steele: 91.8125
6. Fyfe, Nat: 91.3125
7. Shuey, Luke: 91.3125
8. Wines, Ollie: 86.5
9. Higgins, Shaun: 84.125
10. Macrae, Jack: 83.375

And if you limit it to just North players:
1. Higgins, Shaun: 84.125
2. Cunnington, Ben: 53.25
3. Ziebell, Jack: 37.8125
4. Dumont, Trent: 27.375
5. Hartung, Billy: 23.125
6. Anderson, Jed: 23.125
7. Waite, Jarrad: 23.0
8. Atley, Shaun: 22.875
9. McDonald, Luke: 19.8125
10. Goldstein, Todd: 17.25

It's obviously very weighted towards midfielders, but it shows how good Higgins really is.

Question without notice

Does JZ have any siblings? Someone who works on the same floor as me just got shifted nearby and they have the same surname.

So far they haven't shown much interest in footy talk though.

Thought it was interesting to note how many of our guys are current at career highs in the player ratings.

After round 5 (career high ratings in bold, with some leeway if they are only a few points off, e.g. LMac):

AFL Rank - Name - Rating
20 Ben Cunnington 500 pts
35 Todd Goldstein 475 (career best: 630 pts, 3rd in early 2016)
79 Jack Ziebell 417
102 Ben Brown 391
120 Shaun Atley 372

127 Shaun Higgins 366 (404, 85th, mid 2016)
160 Robbie Tarrant 346 (371, 143rd, early 2017)
172 Scott Thompson 336 (467, 43rd, mid 2014 - when the ratings began)
183 Trent Dumont 328
184 Luke McDonald 327

186 Jamie McMillan 326 (384, 115th, late 2016)
241 Billy Hartung 280
271 Nathan Hrovat 257

290 Jarrad Waite 241 (415, 73rd, early 2016)
343 Marley Williams 207 (390, 111th, early 2015)
374 Ryan Clarke 187
402 Majak Daw 162

406 Taylor Garner 159 (206, 364th, mid 2017)
407 Jed Anderson 159
417 Mason Wood 149 (156, 405th, end 2017)
428 Kayne Turner 142 (163, 405th, mid 2017)
467 Jy Simpkin 105
483 Dec Mountford 88
485 Ed Vickers-Willis 87

513 Ben Jacobs 66 (225, 318th, early 2016)

After that: 515th Preuss, 546th Durdin, 553 Zurhaar, 563 Nielson, 594 Wright (was 268th in 2016), 617 Davies-Uniacke, 621 Hibberd, 638 McKay, 645 J Williams, 654 Larkey (-5.4 pts, not great). Morgan, Junker, Jeffries, Hayden, Ahern yet to score.

Of the more detailed list above, 14 players are at of very near career bests right now, 11 are not. More players in the top 200 in the AFL than I can recall seeing for quite some time.

So it turns out she is a relation to Jack, yes, but long ago and down a slightly different line.

I met an Urquhart a couple of years ago. I asked the question, but they didn't have a ******* clue what I was talking about.

Melbournians don't know how good they have it. I'm heading to a North AFL game tomorrow, just because I can and I have nothing better to do. To a Tasmanian, that's insane.

Love living here so far.

Looked at the Draw...Tigers Home game is on Mothers Day for a 1pm start.

Hopeless

If someone's mother doesn't let them go to the North game, then she doesn't love them anyway.
