(Continuing from the Book club thread) What's the manuscript about?

A fictional work on some of Manning Clark theories that the Portuguese and the Dutch new much more about the Australian mainland than they ever let on publicly long before British settlement. Portugal intend to use the land mass to return to super power status but had to hide it over the Dutch and their fellow Catholic overlords in all but name, Spain, while the VOC wanted to rid from the area entirely.

A cocktail of diplomacy and spying involving, Holland and Batavia, Portugal and Dili, Spain, a little of the Vatican and add China in the midst of a dynasty change. Not to mention of course South Eastern Australia as it is now known.

Playing of course on the legend of the Portugal/Chinese ship of Warrnambool and the Spanish Galleon off Gabo Island.

But life to hectic to finish it off... want to do the subject the justice it deserves.

Many fans of american sports? Deciding if it's worth starting a thread to discuss all things NBA, NFL, NHL and MBL. Only have rugby, cricket, soccer and tennis sporting threads at the moment.

Also, come up with some more ideas for generic threads on the board. Some have a few ideas already so we'll see more pop up soon.

I'd vote in favour of an American sports thread. I only know NFL and NBA but that'd be OK though NFL will be done in a month or so.

Aussie, yes Im being a pain on giving my two cents worth.

If someone wants to start an american sports thread or a specialist one they will. Don't forgot spontaneous and natural threads are our best option to see what people want.

Haha. Storms aren't as impressive as they were when I was younger though. Sydney always used to be more humid during summer and then a massive storm would roll in around dusk. Probably only been 2 decents storms since I moved back.

Do you guys remember the storm of 91 that smashed the upper north shore? that was huuuuge. Every south facing window on our place was broken, glass and leaves plastered to the wall, big gum trees blocked both entrances to the street. Took days to clear. Remember my dad and neighbour chopping a path clear as my neighbour's wife was on the brink of giving birth.

That was the real deal.
