Anyone car to rate him? He is our next Foley imo, he tries hard and extra ferocity which fewer players have in the league. A future RFC captain imo and perhapes even an All Australian smokey for back pocket in 08'.

Keen to get non bias opinions on him which is why I have kept this to the main board. So what do you think?

VERY similar to Peter Bell with poor foot skills. Think once he learns how to kick better he will be AA quality midfielder but until then hes just a good clearance player. Above average

Very good in the air for his height

I have him in DT so if he did all this i would be stoked:p

Turns 24 next week so he's not that young, but has been a good contributor in his 20 games. His aggression and determination makes it easier to live with the odd mistake.

6 inches taller and he would be the most exciting young tallent in the competition.

Not to woried about his hieght. He gives it to the bigger blokes as much as he does to anyone and he would never be expected to play on 6'2" players. He will consistantly play on the Milnes, Schniders, Davies, Betts of the world and then run of them where possible

Would be wasted though if he is to stay in back pocket. Hes a clearance midfielder with a strong defensive side to his game.

His foot skills are actually very good, in the top 5 in our team. Must have for Supercoach, not so much Dreamteam though. But just a great player.

Cos most of the time he stabs it wide to a open player. King isnt the player whose gonna burst and from the 60m line drill a pass to the chest of a leading forward. His handball/kicking ratio suggests he isnt as confident in his kicking as he should be. Yes he does get alot of handballs when hes lieing on the ground but a few times tonight he ran backwards to handball to a player rather then kick it himself. His footskills could and IMO should improve when he gets used to kicking under pressure

ive said this since i first saw him, up there with richmonds best players..how sad that is...he works his ass off for the team, runs and ..amazingly can tackle unlike richmonds entire team it seems after tonights side, he's in my DT and im happy with his game :D id love him at collingwood

Always liked King from an opposition perspective, probably shouldn't be out there by stature but clearly gives it is all. Alot tougher then he looks. I remember watching him one time can't remember the opposition. He and his opponent went to ground and got in a bit of a scuffle. The bloke (cant remember for the life of me who it was) was twice his size and used his head as a handrail trying to get to his feet, only to have King grab him by the collar and throw him away with what seemed to be an uncanny amount of strength for such a small bloke.

The only problem i have with King is that he looks too much like a ferrit.

:p Rather like being the 5th best centre half forward in czechoslovakia, to quote the great DC.

I think every neutral would love King and the way he goes about the footy- just got that bull at the gate mentality which sees him go in repeatedly at every contest, and run till he upchucks.

He's been compared to a lot, but he reminds me very much of Daniel Kerr in his first season or two- pint sized, naturally hard at it, not naturally skilled, but with a manic attitude to his football which is wonderful to watch. If he develops the skills to go with it, he could end up as good as Kerr.

I think Joel Selwood has "most exciting young talent in the competition" pretty well parcelled up for the time being. Just great to have a bloke who leaves absolutely nothing in the change rooms when he goes out, and takes nothing back in there with him after the game.

All hail a player who can make lazy small forwards accountable for their lack of defensive application.

f@#k! ..........calm down a little!

Stress on the *if* he develops the skills part, something Richmond are struggling with enormously.

The reason I make the comparison is not only because King's cunning and runty and vice versa, he has the same capacity for instinctive, high intensity second and third efforts over four quarters- Kerr's not naturally a silky skilled player, he got that way because his onfield attitude also extends to training, and he was playing at a club with a pretty high level of skills training, so he could get the most out of himself. If King developed similar skills to Kerr, yes, he could be that good.

Jake King wouldn't be in the top 22 for any other side in the AFL.

What's even sadder is how we will demolish your rabble with our rabble in 2 weeks...you guys will be bottom 4 this year..probably with those jokers at carlton and most likely us also...
