He literally said "it's not as though Charlie didn't deserve a game it's more that they were looking for a particular type of role". There's no way it was intended as any slight on Constable.
The comment you've recorded here must have been part of the podcast recording. But that context was not included in the summary article they published online, which was all I'd seen on the subject.

Yes, the additional comments are in the full audio. I listened to it in the car this week and didn't think twice at the mention of Constable, it clearly wasn't meant to be nor does it come across as derogatory.

I don't think SDK's issue is winning the contest, it's getting to it.

Several times on Sunday he was either playing 20m off his opponent OR got sucked up to the ball and left his opponent, and their mids then hit up his opponent for an uncontested mark or joe the goose. That doesn't show up in that stat, but is a massive issue.

I don't know if he's doing it because he wants to be more of an intercept player than a 1v1 player, but on Sunday he was neither. Repeatedly ended up in no man's land, while his opponent kicked easy goals.

100% agree but that to me feels like more a problem with the defensive system rather than the man himself

System issue rather than SDK issue.
Champion Data on SEN today said we're the 2nd easiest to score against on turnover. We just leave our defenders horribly exposed and outnumbered when we give the opposition the ball back.

Actually on Sunday he was the definition of an intercept player. He had 10 or 11 for the game. But was often nowhere near close enough to Hogan to stop him getting endless forward 50 disposals (think it was like 13 inside 50).

SDK: "Hey Scotty, do i defend close accountable or loose intercept tonight?"

CS: "Yes"

Hogan also plays KPF differently to most. He tends to drop off the back, closer to goal, and back his marking ability - and from the parts of the game I did see, that seemed to catch us.
