Comments about last night and contract talks.

  • Didn't sound happy with Fev's response when he was dragged. Ratts told him that he had done the wrong thing and he needed to get going and Fev said "Yep".......didn't sound happy with the response.
  • On contract talks - saying the club needs to draw a line in the sand. Saying anyone who wants to leave the club for more money then they can go. Says he loves the club, and all the players should, and with the group we have coming up none of the players should be leaving for a bit more money, and if thats what they want then they shouldn't be at the CFC.
  • Thought the Fev incident and the Bentick "holding the ball" decision were critical in the flow of the game.
  • Murph - feels strength and running are great improvements this year, but still has a lot to learn.
  • Gibbs matured as an inside mid and can go outside when needed. Proud of the Cornes job as well. Have turned the pressure up on him to run rather than stop when he got the footy.

Interesting BB.

Hats off to Ratts re the bolded bit. On that score, it's rumoured that the Hawks have the most room remaining in their salary cap out of all of the clubs, because of that sort of attitude. I think i remember reading about a few Geelong blokes being happy to play for less than they could command elsewhere too. It was exactly those circumstances that led to Hammill leaving and most Blues fans would be happy enough (in hindsight) with how that panned out.

Fev's attitude looked pretty ordinary on the tv last night. It seems to me that more and more Carlton people are thinking "when is this guy ever gonna get that out of his game". The free/50 he gave away genuinely turned the game.

There's every chance that the powers that be will hold firm on Fev's contract terms, on the reasoning that if we let him go then at least this is a very good draft to have some extra picks, and there's plenty of good forward prospects.

Haha seriously nothing makes me laugh more. How quickly things get forgotten are amazing. Maybe forgotten isn't the right word, but you can gaurantee in the next couple of weeks Fev is going to kick a bag and everyone will be back on the fev bandwagon. While him spitting chips isnt ideal we only see this on a few rare occasions these days. While hes kicking on average 4-5 goals a game and winning matches off his own boot i can tolerate the odd dummy spit.

It is about time Ratts lost the plot and demanded discipline from him or show him the door. The man is not bigger than the team or club. In hindsight we should have been firmer rnd 1 when he was out late regardless of the urine thing!

Spot on Guns. In hindsight, he should have been suspended by the club, and for longer than 1 week. Take away the one thing that footballers want to do, which of course is to play footy, then I think you will have had a greater improvement from Fevola. The way he carried on last night was a disgrace.

Especially as we lost rnd 1 v Tigers.Grrrr!

How did he carry on last night?

You were there weren't you
Free kicks, 50m penalties. Lack of effort and the stuff after the game

Free kick and 50m penalty in the second quarter wasn't good. Listen to the Triple M interview. Fev explained what happened and I guess I can understand his frustration, however, giving away 50m penalties is not good and he acknowledged that.

The stuff after the game happens every week with most clubs. Footy players have mates outside the club and I thought it was common knowledge that Fev is mates with most of the St Kilda boys. It happens every week with most teams and I really don't see the big deal.

Sounds like when he was dragged he also was not warm to the coach.Man is not bigger than team

Totally agree but after hearing the Triple M interview I think Fev was more disappointed with himself. He mentioned the fact that the team has a rule where if you give a 50m penalty away you are benched.

Lack of effort I agree with but what stuff after the game are you referring to?

If it was the fact that Fev was shaking his Mates hands while having an arm around them (looking like he was "cuddling" them) & having a joke or laugh with them, then I personally see nothing wrong with that. Shows that he has good sportsmanship nature.
Would you prefer he didn't shake opponents hand & be an arrogant prick after losing a game?
On his interview with Triple M today, he stated that he has a few good "Mates" at St Kilda FC so what exactly is wrong with what he did?
As he stated, it is really no different to what he does every week. Shakes hand & possibly gives a pat on opponents back etc.

Just my opinion anyway

**edit** also.... would you have preffered the boys after the West Coast Eagles game not go up to Josh kennedy & shake his hand & give him a hug?
or was that ok because Josh is an ex Carlton Player & we WON that game?

Re: stuff after the game. It's one thing to shake hands and congratulate friends, but this was a critical match as far as our season went and I think he could have at least showed some remorse.

Bugger remorse. Some serious anger and frustration like we are feeling. Some fear with what Ratts should be about to do to him

Totaly agree but Fev should have been so dam disserpionted at games end, that being friendly with the aints players after the final siren should not have even been in his head, and even worse it was bloody Milne he must be aware of how much we supporters hate the little spanker. I love Fev but its wearing thin.

And you wonder why he is not in the leadership group and won't be in the future.
Imagine Bryce after slogging his guts out and not winning seeing his gun forward playing patter cake with that mob!

He isn't in the leadership group because of the incident before Round 1 and nothing else.

I can guarantee he is still a leader to many of the young kids.

I think they can do better. Yes about rnd 1 but as I said I don't think he will be offered it again

Maybe not but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. Let him concentrate on his footy and be an "unofficial" leader.

That would be nice if he could do that some time soon for 4 qtrs. Instead of wondering about his contract, his friends, his hair, if he is on the big screen etc

OMG! FFS he had ONE bad game and everybody is after his blood!

What about Stevo? Stevo had a terrible game last night too and gave away a free with the deliberate out of bounds at a crucial time in the game but I don't see post after post crucifying him today.
