- wasted opportunities in first half
- Yarran good could of kicked 5
- Bower really happy the way he continued to run off & create
- Browne really happy with his game - i found this strange

Simpson and Walker would have helped big time tonight.
Did anyone else thing the ground was fairly narrow, and hard to create space by switching play?

A bit, as well as the fact the Swans are just really hard to play against. They really turn it into a scrap.

Mentioned us getting cained on the counter-attack?

Fast teams like Essendon will carve us up again if we tighten that up.

He was right about Browne. He had a dip

I thought Browne was ok as well. He did spray a couple of kicks, but overall, his kicking was pretty good.

Thoughts Wiggins had a dip when he came on as well.

Glad it was a brief conference, good sign that we weren't taking the game too seriously. Win would have been good so we could get a game in at the Dome but a proper game at VISY is probably the next best thing. Might also help some of the younger guys cope with the pressure of AFL-standard footy by playing in a familiar setting infront of a small crowd.

Thought Browne was terrible (didn't seem to do anything constructive all night), Warnock was unsighted, Sauce was very average, Henderson very poor, not to mention Brock and others.

Not a great sign unfortunately. As for Yarran and Garlett, intensity sadly lacking. Had a number of chances to finish off their hardwork and failed. Lets hope it improves.

Armfield as well!

Warnock didn't play after half time, and I thought he was ok when he was on the ground. Did a couple of nice things on the ground, which is pretty impressive for a bloke who is 206cm.

Thought he was great at intra-club but surprises me he doesn't dominate centre bounces with his height. Was hoping for a little more from him in 1st half.

The point about legspeed is that we weren't actually selecting a team to win. Rather, the goal was to give our 4 rucks each a quarter, as illustrated by Kreuzer spending time forward with Hampson and Warnock switching at half time.

FWIW, I don't think it was a resounding success but clearly there was an imbalance with Betts, Simpson, Armfield and Murphy unavailable. Take those 4 out and you'll always have a side perceived too tall and slow.

For all the doom and gloom on here, you'd think we were actually trying. Our back half looked solid as always. Lucas and Davies showed enough to suggest they'll make it. Waite and Austin will make a huge difference to our structure.

Agreed. The only thing Browne did well tonight was go backwards, quite the opposite to Bower who I thought was our BOG.

I know we were experimenting with the rucks but don't kid yourself. The players were trying and we only have 3-4 players to come back. Everyone has been talking about Kruezer and Hampson up forward all pre-season...it just didn't work in this particular game which is slightly disappointing!

They didnt even look close and our fwd talls gave away poor free kicks (Hampson/Hendo). The lack of ground ball agility really showed...

It is not the incoming players (kade/betts/armfield/murph/Waite) that will make a significant difference - it's Ratt's gameplan and strategy that everything depends on!

One game yes..but we did try and we should be frustrated with that 3rd qtr!!!

Thought it was very similar to scg last year had our chances early failed to convert, dropped simple marks & missed targets, talls up front looked ordinary though delivery was an issue, murphy & houl's will improve that.

Bower very good, fish looked good early hope the acl not major.

Waite & setanta should help front & back

McLean looked like a melbourne player

Ground pretty good crowd reasonable nearly 10 g mostly swans but plenty o' blues.

If that were a trip agianst us on Jetta what about the delibrate scrap with studs down the back of our blokes leg on the hill wing

Swans got 1 in jetta though

I actually thought Brown was ok last night. Jumped in front of a pack, and his kicking was ok. Crikey, even Judd butchered a kick or two last night, yet he seems to be untouchable around here.

Very overrated player.

What do you mean?! The year is over now!

We should sack Ratten for not taking games seriously.
