Richards is a versitile footballer, but if we plan on using him as our 2nd defender we are in serious trouble. Richards is no-where near as good as LRT in this role, not even close. (my opinion)

Richards should either start as a 3rd defender / loose defender. His job primarily should be to help out both LRT and especially C Bolton in getting in the space between the kicker and the leading forward.

He has done this many times for us to great effect, and I doubt it will change much in 2010. Richards rarely ever takes the 2nd tall, and I don't expect that to change.

Just my thoughts, everyone is entitled to their opinion, I have just never rated Richards as a 1-on-1 defender.

He's nowhere near as bad as you make him out to be. He has played on Nick Riewoldt amd Matt Lloyd with success in the past. Obviously, over a number of games, he is more likely to be found out, but he could be used in a stop-gap measure if required.

He also played several games this year as the Swans second defender when Bolton was injured and i don't recall him making a total arse of himself in those games.

Solution

Richards to play third tall in the forward line

I think we should have White at CHF with Goodesy and Jack on a flank each. Bradshaw at FF with Richards playing third tall and Rohan to start in the forward pocket.

My 22

B: LRT, C. Bolton, Mattner
HB: Shaw, Grundy, Kennelly
C: McVeigh, Kennedy, O'Keefe
HF: Jack, White, Goodes
F: Richards, Bradshaw, Rohan
R: Seaby, Kirk, J.Bolton

Int: Mumford, Bird, McGlynn, Hannebery

Emg: Veszpremi, Malceski, Smith

Unlucky Players- Jetta, Bevan and Meredith

Honestly, I would be surprised if Kennelly starts round one... Remember he has still been out of football for a year and unless he really blitzes preseason and NAB cup I think he needs at least 3-4 ressie games to get back up to speed.

After that, whoever is the worst out of Kennelly, Shaw, Mattner, Malceski will be knocked out of the side.

Its not like Kennelly sat around all year eating hamburgers and chips. I would expect his fitness won't really be a problem

Sure, but still he has spent a year away from the game. It might be like riding a bike to him, it might take him time to rediscover his touch. You never know.

Good find... So very exciting to see Jetta play next year!
Anyone think Dennis-Lane will? Also an over-age recruit!

Dennis-Lane will play round one if not injured (Bookmark it)

We drafted him to fill a need, Has shown exceptional form at WAFL level,

Lewis Johnston has added a lot of weight to his tank in the off-season i heard. Paul Roos said he is by far the most imprerssive, pre-season trainer out of the whole group.

BTW who should we call "LJ"?
-Lewis Johnston
-Lewis Jetta

LJ1- Johnston
LJ2- Jetta

Also I don't think Dennis-Lane is too light... Jetta is too light but just like Roos said he can't lose his electric speed by gaining weight.

In relation to Dennis-Lane.

Remeber he's been palying a senior league where the West Coast and Freo listed players ply there trade so he's been physiccly exposed to playing with men, unlike Rohan.

I think Dennis-Lane will be trialled strongly through the pre season comps and if his form is good he will be given a shot for round 1.

about right i think, not sure if rohan will play much, i think jetta will play before him bhut we picked them for speed we might as well use them...we have none

where has our depth come from all of a sudden?

thank god though, it means ed barlow won't even get close to a game in the 1's

Roos has said that Rohan is unlikely to play in the AFL in 2010. He did however say that Jetta has a good chance of getting some game time.

TBH, and IMHO, I believe Roos is just trying to take some pressure of Rohan. There has been so much talk about his speed and explosive skills, that I think Roos wants him to concentrate on training without the pressure and expectation of playing him too early. But considering we have played Hannebery and he has been successfull at a similar age, I would think Rohan will get some game time mid season or later. :thumbsu:

I dont see how thats possible when meredith is goin to win it
