I wont be popular with Vonn but I was drafting my best 22 and after trade week and the draft I don't have in the top 22 and nor do I have him in top seven reserves behind the top 22. I surprised myself as I rated what he did when he had the ball last year.

A quick run into form though and that could change very quickly.

Who are your top 7 reserves?

To tdo that I beeter line up my senior team

Grundy, Bolton, Richards
Shaw, LRT, Kennelly
Malceski, Kirk, Kennedy
McGlynn, Goodes, Bevan
McVeigh, Bradshaw, White
Seaby, O'Keefe, Bolton
Bird, Mumford, Jack, Mattner

Hanneberry, Veszremi, Smith, O'Dwyer, Pyke (By Need), Moore, Rohan, Thornton round out the top group of those not in the side.

Now remebering only 13 guys can take the field in the ressies at any one time the Reserves is starting to look a little lie this

B Toppie Reid Toppie
HB O'Dwyer, Thornton Toppie
C Barlow, Smith, Rohan
HF Veszpremi Currie Toppie
F Dennis-Lane Johnston Toppie
R Pyke, Moore, Hanneberry
IC Orreal, Jetta, Meredith, Sumner, Gilchrist, Toppie

Now that would leave Heath, Gordon and the new irisih rookie along with new rookie signiggs out of the team to begin with ... though through injury some would be in.

Speaking of which do we have somewhere to play our over flow if we have any? Tuggerenong perhaps.

Probably our best 22.

B: Richards, Bolton, Grundy
HB: Shaw, LRT, Kennelly
C: Mattner, Kirk, McVeigh
HF: McGlynn, Goodes, Jack
F: Bevan, Bradshaw, White
R: Seaby, O'Keefe, Bolton
I: Mumford, Bird, Kennedy, Malceski
E: Smith, Hanners, Vespa, Barlow

Maybe swap Bevan around with one of the younger guys, but if everyone in that team is fully fit, hard to see if any of the kids can slide in. Unless there are major injuries.
The emergency line is my favourite players.
Can't wait for next year.

There's no point playing Dennis-Lane in the reserves. Even if he didn't turn out to be a great AFL player, he'd dominate Canberra. He was second in goal kicking in the WAFL, which is miles ahead of Canberra.

I think he'll play first round.

I have a feeling Hanners is going to win the NAB Rising Star.

Nah everyone always thinks a second year player will win it but they never do. I do think guys like Rohan, Jetta and Denis-Lane will get nominations though. Don't think Hanners of Vesz will to be honest.

CAS i suggest you lock up your house at night or else.

I agree with the sentiment. However the best 22 play or your in the reserves. And im struggling to find a spot in the best 22.

with different positions Swans 16 and I have the same 22. Who would you remove for Dennis-Lane.

I really want to see Dennis-Lane in the team early in 2010 as i really think he could bring something into the forward line which we have been really lacking for many years now.

Again agree with the sentiment. If that something however is run and chase in the forward line and put pressure on the opponents than I suggest you read the opinions of the West Australians. It's all I have to go at the moment when picking my team.

Im not bagging that we we drafted him but im looking at our best 22 and right now, unless we look at removing Bevan, there isn't a spot.

I think he's got potential to grow into a forward like role and I've no doubt 2010 will see him get a chance of senior football. At his mature age he's going to have to grab it when it comes along.

stupid first year player 'expectations' begin

there is a riduclous notion that first year players have to play senior football, and do it well..... and NAB rising star nominations are the defining point of whether a player is good or not

whilst it would be nice if things panned out that way..... expectations should be off these kids until they are at least playing with the reserves

btw Rohan isn't even tipped to play senior football in 2010

Most here have Seaby as the first ruck, Im pretty sure Mumford will be and I wouldnt be surprised to see Seaby used elsewhere, its a bit far off to be predicting round 1 because there will be alot of 'experementing' in the pre-season with all this change of personal, Id say with that there will be changes to our gameplan and we will see a few surprises..

Hannebery was told he wouldn't play unless we had serious injury problems, which at no point did we have.

Hanners managed to get games with the side after impressing at reserves level, so he has earnt the attention and praises he has been given

but regardless, i'm just not a fan of pumping up these kids..... they haven't even played a reserves game, and proclamations of rising star nominations is laughable

ffs... Barlow was termed the White Adam Goodes, McVeigh became the whipping boy of the footy club (partially contributed to his high draft pick)

wish Bigfooty posters and fans in general became a little more realistic with their 'expectations'

 I was saying Hanners wouldn't get it because second years rarely do and that if anything our draft picks from this year would be nominated if anything, what's unrealistic about that? That's the pattern it seems to have taken.

Bez I agree with the Pre Season before naming our 22, Im just playing cause Im missing it.

However With White and Goodes move up forward and the fact where targeting Bradshaw I don't envisage any role in the club for Seaby but Ruck, He seemed to be the target along with Mumford for when Jolly went. The only other option is if Goodes is moving back permantly to the middle and Seabys is going to stand the CHF position.

I dont think any of our rucks are up to doing the lion hearted work of 20 min rucking a term on their own like Jolly was doing and therefore they will be doing about half a term each with Seaby starting out as the No 1 but as the seasons go on Mumford will take that role.

he's not a defender from what I've seen of him. Added that West Coast have been struggling without as forward barring Le Cras yet Seaby was not given another spot bar playing in the WAFL indicates that Worsfold thought he was best ruck who could rest up forward and I think well be using him in the ruck too.

Teddles >>>>> LRT. Some people seem to forget what Teddles did last year against Carlton, when the game was over and we lost. He didn't need to do what he did but he did it anyway. The guy is all heart. :thumbsu:

And MOST people overlook what LRT has been doing most weeks for five years. Let's not revisit the argument, but LRT has continued to improve, and is one of our warhorses. Richards, brave and talented as he has been, has a lot of work to do to get back into the best 22.

Hannebery would be a certainty in my best 22 right now. I have struggled to understand EVERY post or argument suggesting otherwise. The kid is all class AND tough, and is hardly going to go backwards over summer.

Can't believe so many have Richards in our best 22 - IMO, he clearly isn't and Mattner probably isn't either, but unfortunately both will be lining up next year in Round 1.

I hope Dennis-Lane is in the side from the start. You would think he'd be a decent chance.

my original post, was directed at your remark that TDL, Rohan and Jetta will get nominations, it was never about the Hanners point

mis-interpretation of posts, has confused this topic

but i'll re-emphasise nonetheless.... that these kids shouldn't have to much expectation on them for the sake of it

You're fair and correct in mentioning ridiculously unrealistic expectations of our new kids. Why would Sydney's rookies be any more likely than any other newly drafted kid to get an RS nomination???

I'm prepared to accept Scully, Trengove and Martin would be most likely, but who knows?

^^and who is that?

Scully is too little and will get crunched. Trengove has played SANFL footy and Martin is about 187cm and 87kgs. Perfect size.

Back to what CAS said. I think it's just an injury or out-of-form that will let Dennis-Lane get a game. If everyone is at the top of their game it would have to be Bevan. BTW we have Hanners, Smith, Vespa, Barlow etc. so it'll be a long time til Dennis-Lane gets a game. Unless he is starring in the 2s or 3s.
