God, I couldn't even try to pick a lineup since we seem to have a lot of depth now (though whether it is truly quality depth remains to be seen!), and will wait till after the draft. I do think the squeeze will be on some players now but I just hope the following don't get lost in the shuffle (the first two probably will):

Bevan
O'Dwyer
Meredith

Round 1 is probably a bit early for Johnston and Currie but hopefully they make an impact next year at some point. I'll be looking for more out of Bird and Veszpremi next year in particular. Big year for those guys.

FF: Veszpremi White Johnston
HF: Pyke Goodes Kennedy
C: Shaw ROK J.Bolton
HB: McGlynn LRT Mattner
B: Richards C Bolts Grundy
R: Seaby Kirk McVeigh

Int: Mumford Jack Bird Hannebery

Em: O'Dwyer Meredith Ablett

Pyke over Moore??

I agree with Bruce. I'm thinking we'll see Currie played at FF next year if he is fit, another big body up there to help White out would be great and I'm pretty sure he's been played up forward at times in the reserves this year and kicked a couple of goals. But I also think he and Johnston will also be eased into it given their injury interrupted years.

But excited about the depth we have now! Here's hoping we hold off for no fev!

B Richards C Bolton LRT
HB Grundy Mattner Shaw

R Jack Seaby Bird

C Kirk J Bolton Kennedy
HF OKeefe Goodes McVeigh
F Veszpremi White Johnston
R Jack Seaby Bird

I/C Hannebery McGlynn Mumford Bevan
Emergencies Smith Barlow Kennelly

Wishful thinking. Pretty sure he will stay in Ireland.

Im loving the look of our list. If injuries dont bite us in the arse too badly, we're gonna have 10-13 players (including the 3 emergencies) in the 2's in whom i would be well and truly confident of them playing in the seniors.

B: Smith C Bolton Richards
HB: Shaw Grundy LRT
C:Mattner Kirk McVeigh
HF: ROK Goodes Bird
F: Ablett White Veszpremi
R: Seaby J Bolton Jack
I/C: Mumford Kennedy McGlynn Malceski

Emg: Moore Bevan Hannebery

wow that was a lot harder then i thought, looks like there's a bit of depth there to cover some of the injuries that will no doubt occur.

B: Smith, C. Bolton, Richards
HB: Mattner, Grundy, LRT
C: McVeigh, Kirk, Shaw
HF: McGlynn, Goodes, O'Keefe
F: White, Johnston, Veszpremi
Foll: Seaby, J. Bolton, Jack
Int: Hannebery, Mumford, Kennedy, Bird

Emg: Pyke, Moore, O'Dwyer

If we could seal up Lewis Jetta with Pick #14 and get a hard at it mid with #6- Martin or Cunnington or even the flashy Rohan then there could be some real selection headaches next year.

Funny you should name the Irishman; I heard an interesting rumour today.

B C.Bolton LRT Mattner
HB Richards Grundy Malceski
C Shaw Kirk Kennedy
HF Jack Goodes O'Keefe
F Bevan White Veszpremi
Foll Seaby J.Bolton McVeigh
Bench Bird Smith Mumford McGlynn
Emerg Meredith Pyke Hannebery

Notes- Other players in contention- Ablett, Barlow, Currie, Moore, O'Dwyer, Thornton

Richards' could come out of the side for a smaller player who can rotate through the midfield and off the bench (Meredith, Hannebery etc)
Need pace in the midfield, so thats why Shaw goes there, therefore malceski slots in to the half back line. He just needs some form back
O'Keefe essentially another mid just starting on a flank
Jack plays an attacking mid/half forward role, we've all seen him kick goals
Goodes and White look like a good forward combination
Bevan plays a defensive forward role
Veszpremi just needs some matches under his belt
Seaby can rotate through the forward line
Mumford is back up ruck
McGlynn can play a tagging role like Smith

Even though many of us think Bevan would be good in a forward defensive role, there hasn't really been anything to suggest he would be used in that way. I don't know if the coaching staff view that as an option.

Adding Mumford and Seaby, along with Kennedy and McGlynn, add to that picks 6 and 14, Sydney is once again out to prove that they dont need to bottom out. Reckon you guys will finish no lower than 10th this year and be back in the 8 come 2011

I am a little confused as to why Hannebery is being push into the emergencies in many teams, yet Vez gets a starting 18 position.

Thus far to date, I would have to say that Hannebery has shown far more than Vez.
No way,Veszpremi has shown far more skill and class than Hannebery.Hanners is a good, tough nut,but Vesz is just as fearless at the contests and this kid has some real talent.Veszpremi over Hannebery any day.

Tell that to Roos who continuosly played hanners before vesz.

No one is doubting his talent, just his fitness.
Although with a full preseason things will get interesting. I rekon hanners and vesz will both be in the team though.

For me, it's not a Hannebery vs Veszpremi thing cause I reckon they will play completely different roles in the squad. Vesz also showed his talent in front of goals, which is why he would get a spot in the forward line ahead of Hannebery.

Hannebery is more likely competing against Jack, Bird, Meredith and Thornton for a spot in the midfield rotation rather than a spot in the forward pocket.

Agree, they aren't competing for the same spot, and there is more competition in the midfield than there is in the forward line.

I mean, how many midfielders are ahead of Hannebery? Kirk, J Bolton, O'Keefe, McVeigh, Shaw, Jack and Bird at least. You then have Kennedy and McGlynn coming into the squad, who probably, based on experience, come in ahead of him.

How many small/mid sized forward options do we have that aren't really midfielders (like O'Keefe or Meredith)? Veszprimi, Moore... Ablett and Bevan... anyone else? There is clearly a lot less competition for places in the forward line, and Veszprimi looks to be the player that can be the perfect mid-sized option for the long term.

Can I say that you all think that vespa will be a super star ,watch the guy wearing 7 he might not kick as many goals but this kid will be one of our best.Vonn you picked the right one this guy will be great
